You are correct that BSU is a team that must be respected. I watched the BSU-UW game and was impressed with the Dawgs, but their defense has been exposed, for sure.

I foresee a good game, possibly won by a break or two. BYU will be the best defense BSU plays this year. Not sure BYU's offense today is better than UW's on opening day, but Hill is very much the real deal. If BSU thinks that history predicts the future, they'll get spanked, but I'm pretty sure Petersen knows what they're up against and will have them ready.

You can be sure Bronco and Robert are taking BSU seriously. I'm looking forward to this game. I grew up in Boise and used to go to the Boise Junior College games. BJC won a couple of NC's. Later Boise State won a couple of Div II NC's. Then came the best bowl game ever played, BSU vs Oklahoma.

BSU has earned their stripes. This could become a great rivalry.

Typical smack talk from the State of Utah. Hear it everytime before utah or BYU plays Boise State. How many top 50 Deffenses has BYU played? Granted its a rebuilding year for BSU however Petterson is the better coach and will put up a great game plan. Being a fan of both teams I Know (at least hope) it will be a great game and will be decided late in the fourth. Hopefully its more exciting then the 7-6 thriller last year. For BYU and especially Ute fans to not give BSU any respect is completley ridiculous. At least BYU has kept the games (well most of them) competitive unlike Utah who Boise has absolutley destroyed everytime they played.

This will be a rough game no matter how you slice it. If BYU get a good win on this team there will be no question this team is on a roll to being in the top 25. Still BYU needs to win it first.

If BSU's Hedrick can pass the ball with the efficiency that John O'Korn of Houston did, BYU will be in trouble. BYU's defense can stop a good running QB but it can't stop a very good passing QB.

I think the Cougars run Boise St off the field and win going away. That would really make my day.

The thing to remember is that Boise has faced only two teams presently rated in the top 50 defensive teams in the nation. Washington, presently rated #50 (after giving up 129 points in their last three games to Stanford, OR and AZ St.), blew out a healthy Boise team 38-6. Boise beat a banged up USU team (presently the #22 defense in the country) 34-23. None of the other teams Boise State has faced is anywhere near the top Defensive teams in the country. The point is that Boise State may be ranked as the #18 best offenses in the country, but, only two teams they've faced were very good defensive teams. I think that's significant.

BYU's defense took a tumble after last week to being ranked the 37th best defense in the country while it's offense is ranked #14. What this means is that BYU will be the best overall team Boise will face since its blowout loss to Washington the beginning of its season.

Of course, the reason we play the game is that anything can happen and the best team doesn't always win. But, I like BYU's chances this year.

If BYU wins this game and a few teams lose they may sneak into the top 25 - if they win this one and the next the will move to 20.

If they lose - well that will be a real drag.
