Dear Poyman, you misread my post. I didn't call BYU's scheduled opponents high-school caliber, I called BYU high-school caliber. You compare BYU and the Ducks, yet only one of them is undefeated.

Sadly, history does not matter in this game, hence the dwindling SEC, and the fact that the Utes did not start the game with points on the scoreboard when they played BYU.

Finally, you are calling me a fair weather fan? You picked the wrong man, Poyboy. I grew up near Autzen stadium. I was there when Gifford Nielson broke his leg playing the Ducks, and I don't root for ANY other PAC team, unless they're playing out of conference. So don't try to saddle me with your own character flaws.

The only thing you've said that is right is that BYU has a huge fan base wherever they go. That is the reason they go to bowl games.

    Y Grad / Y Dad,

It must be nice to look at the remainder of you're inferior schedule and start planning for an inferior bowl. It's my hope that someday soon the Utes can look at the remainder of their PAC 12 schedule and start planning for a quality bowl. If we qualify this year, I want the Utes to play a worthy opponent. We have nothing to prove with byu. We would beat you again and you guys would yne, rationalize, admit nothing, and keep hating...again.

Here's a BYU fan hoping Utah becomes bowl eligible - hopefully the Kraft Fight Hunger bowl.

Yes I'd love our team to get another shot at U. Sucker for punishment? Eternal optimist? Whatever, just let it happen!

I don't want BYU in the pac12, I like independence and have always been a proponent of them going independent. It is the best thing for them.

I will give you this, in football I am not so sure BYU would be any better than utah is in the pac12, BYU is just an above average football program at this point in time and utah is a barely average one. There are some good teams in the pac12 so winning every week is a hard thing to do. But winning occasionally, against the bad teams in the pac12, like utah has done, is something I'm sure BYU could accomplish and in all of the other sports there is no doubt at all that BYU would be far superior, and perform far better, than utah has done in the pac12 with the lone exception of women's gymnastics.

No doubt, most LDS members across the nation follow byu (in Utah too), props.

Like I said...The PAC 12 doesn't want byu, never has never will, and what you said doesn't disprove that.

LaVell did a lot of good things for byu...a loooong time ago...he's gone.

I have seen improvement in the Utes since they joined the PAC 12 and in every game this year. You will eat you're words, and you're hate will grow. Again, we're used to it.

The utes are the Kansas Jayhawks of the PAC12... They're uncompetitive members...

Actually, those who have followed the PAC8 and then the PAC10 like I have (since I live over here) know that the PAC Athletic Directors in the 80's were trying very hard to get BYU into the Conference... They were unsuccessful for 2 reasons... 1) The Northern California School's Board of Trustees wouldn't hear of it because of the school's religious affiliation; and 2)BYU was hesitant to persue application and leave the WAC without the university of utah also being invited.

Another commonly known fact is that the PAC AD's know that BYU brings a large increase in gate receipts (far more than utah) whenever they match up against BYU because of the fact that the Cougs travel extremely well... I have seen it first hand my entire life... BYU takes a large contingency to every game over here... I have also been to utah games over here and there is no comparison in the number of opposing team tix that are sold.

Truth is, utah is a PAC member today because 5 Big 12 teams with invitations to join the conference turned the invitation down and they needed another team to go with Colorado.

I live in Oregon and I know the Oregon fan... They're the fans of whatever PAC team is winning... I like the Ducks and I hope they beat Bama in the NC... But to belittle BYU's schedule from the Duck's standpoint is laughable... Every publication in preseason showed the Cougs with a stronger strength of schedule (both Marc Lawrence and Phil Steel list Oregon with the 110th to 115th toughest schedule among the 126 FBS Programs in the country)... BYU is listed in the top 35 in both..Hardly a pedestal from which a Duck fan should preach on the toughness of schedule...

As I recall, BYU has done pretty well against the Ducks... I think the last game we played (2006)was in Las Vegas with the Ducks losing 8 to 38. I actually have the Bruins beating the Ducks in the Conference Championship game but losing in the regular season match up.

As for the utes... They made my friends alot of money Thursday night (not covering the spread)and I suspect they will make them alot more money this coming weekend...

STANFORD 49 utah 17 (The Indians, I mean the Cardinal, cover the spread).

You're a funny guy duck. The PAC 12 doesn't want byu, never has, never will, yet you and you're friends are the biggest fans of all of it's teams except one.

I just read you're comment under the Dick Harmon article about taysom. Seems somebody has the preaching down to a T...but the practice...?

This hypocrisy has been going on since the mid 70's, keep it up, we know it's all you have these days, we're used to it.

The Utes have the challenge of competing against tougher competition week in and week out. They are getting better and they do play with a lot a heart.

One again, there is no doubt that the non-conference games are by far their easiest

Although the game with the blue cougars has been a guaranteed WIN this past decade, it has been a bit of a distraction at times.

Two years without that game isn’t enough time. Heck, since the tea party fan base of the cougs don't even acknowledge the loss, why play them ever again? There is nothing to gain.

Yeah Blues, High School caliber teams like Georgia Tech, Boise State and Notre Dame.

No high school teams like Idaho State, Nevada, and Houston... I would also say Virginia but you already lost to them.

In 2 PAC-12 games Utah is minus 8 in TOs (total 9 interceptions). From those turnovers:

    * OSU was plus 17 points
    * UCLA was plus 10 points

If Utah wants to win next week we need to stop "throwing" away the game.

The good news, Utah's defense is finally showing signs of it's old swagger. Hopefully they will continue to improve.

    Bring on #5 Stanford!

    Go UTES!

Well put. 2 things...UCLA is a couple of steps higher in the rankings today, and, you're Ducks would be smart not to look past the Utes.
One more thing...The SEC has nothing on the PAC 12 this year. Cheers.

Yeah Blues, High School caliber teams like Georgia Tech, Boise State and Notre Dame.
It's good you'd rather lose seeing how you have no other choice.
Utah did beat BYU. They out played the Y, and the coaches at utah out coached the Y.
Any given Saturday, baby. On that Saturday, Utah was the better team. At year end, the
critics, commentators and other coaches that "know", will have BYU ranked as the better
team. BYU will go bowling and ute fans will gloat, rightly so, that BYU has lost to utah for
4 years in a row. Still, it will be nice to see our team in the post season while ute fans set
home and cheer for our opponent because once again their team was the door mat of their

I'm no Utah fan, but I have to speak up for the Utes today. Snap out of it, Utah! You lost to a ranked team -- there is no shame in that. I'll be surprised if UCLA doesn't drop significantly in the standings because of how close you kept the game. And if UCLA doesn't slide, it is because people are starting to recognize Utah.

To the BYU fans: the real difference between Utah and BYU is that they beat you. At home. Utah has a tough rest of the season, and I would rather lose playing the elite teams that Utah will face, than be undefeated playing against high-school caliber football teams such as BYU. The funny thing about the PAC-12 is that all the teams, including Utah, are good enough to earn a bowl spot. That's why we go to bowl games so often.

    Now, how 'bout them Ducks!

Now BYU and Utah are both 3-2. The difference between them is that BYU will finish 8-4 and Utah will finish 4-8. Its's great to be home for the holidays every year watching better teams play bowl games. Happy Holidays Uties, enjoy the extra time with family. Recruits are already running away, they want to play for a winner that goes to bowl games every year. Utah will not see another for at least a decade.

    Sorry Chris B.

I love our Pac 12 membership.

    It is elite.

Remember what it is like to go bowling?
