DN needs a thumbs down mechanism... If they did, 90% of your comments wouldn't even show up after about 8 views... Lose the vile... take out your frustration on some PAC12 teams that you guys are incapable of beating... Play some more Weber Colleges... But get away from the emotion...This is exactly what Max was talking about and oh my, was he ever accurate.

Who won the game? Who won the game? Who won the game? I don't think the aggie came close. I believe I am now 3-0 with my predictions this season.

    Vindication. SCOREBOARD.

Hopefully now that the in-state games are over and UU has had their yearly bowl game, the utie trolls can go talk smack on their precious PAC opponents' fan boards. Yeah, like that's gonna happen . . .

Did anyone notice that BYU is so relevant to the big, bad, PAC-12 Utah Utes that Ute fans can't stay away from any of the BYU stories?

Rent free in your heads. Thanks.

Clearly no one reads. I said I doubt the aggies were favored in that game. As in, I knew they were going to lose and so did everyone else.

    @Go Big Blue

Fact: You lost to UofU even though you said you'd win.
Fact: You lost to USC. And I believe you said you'd win that one.
Fact: BYU is better than USU. How much better, I don't know, but they are. As far as Ifel Of-a sofa is concerned I didn't watch that game because as stated many many times before. I'm not a Ute fan unless they are beating USU or in a bowl. So I don't care if they won/lost the game.

If talking smack were smoking crack, we'd all be arrested and compelled to surrender our temple recommends; eventually the game has to be played and things must be settled on the field. However, for all the folks who think that Pac-12 membership must inexorably translate to perpetual athletic superiority over a lowly independent/member of the WCC, how is it that BYU's basketball program is on the rise, whereas the U is still stuck in the muck of its recent mediocrity, Pac-12 or no? The answer is, of course, that BYU's basketball team is, and will be, no more "perpetually" superior to the U than the latter's football team will be to BYU.

Last night and this morning on about three articles on the UU-UCLA game there were lots of BYU fans who gave props to the way Utah played, even though they lost. And yet here on the first page of comments, the first three, and nearly half of the 20 comments are posted by Ute "fans" on an article that does not involve them at all.

You guys talk all the time about BYU's growing irrelevance, but you can't give up the obsession. Max was right.

Maybe all of you consider this to be crazy, but I am not convinced that Utah or Utah State are better than BYU. Each school has their stronger aspects, but one game does not dictate the overall superiority (or lack thereof) when we consider the entire season. The great thing about good in-state rivalries is that either team has a good chance of winning based on emotional control and physical execution. There are way too many trolls on these boards, but I guess that is what is expected after the U lost last night and the only way they feel a little better is if BYU loses as well. I expect BYU to win tomorrow just as I expected them to beat Texas! Some Cougar fans do not have any confidence in the team and should maybe change colors.

The difference between BYU fans and Ute fans. We BYU know that our team is not the greatest in the world and we work with what we have. Ute fans think that just because they are in the Pac12 that they are going to be like BYU and win a National Champion.

Neither team is that good. Utah you say how bad BYU is yet in the last three years they are your best win each year. That's pretty bad. Your in the pac 12 but the B division seeing how the best three teams are in the North division. If you put UCLA, ASU and USC in the north it would be division A and Division Z.

BYU you are headed down look at the roster. There isn't much on defense after the juniors and seniors. Can you really expect to be really good when in a couple of years you only have two legit players William and Kearsley on offense, and Kaufusi on defense.

Quit cutting each other down because it only makes you look worse than you really are.

USU wins tonight. Better Quarterback and better offensive line the rest is close. Both Utes and Cougars might have losing records this year when was the last time that happened.

  • Pipes Salt Lake City, UT

USU should be favored. They have a more balanced offense and are playing at home. Should be a fun game. BYU's strength (Defense) against USU's strength (Chuckie). Hoping for an EPIC game!

The reason for the negativity is simple. Even after their two undefeated seasons, even after making it into the PAC 12, even after having coaches like Urban Meyer coach their team, Ute fans know they're still second banana to BYU.

There are many Ute fans still bitter about BYU's great QB factory of the 70's, 80's and early 90's and they refuse to let it go.

Seriously? If you are going to attempt talking smack make it good and believable.

BYU has had more national relevance than Utah since Wittingham and Bronco became head coaches. BYU has been ranked more. BYU has had bigger wins save the Sugar Bowl victory the Utes had over Alabama. Even this year BYU has had the more relevant win with its victory over Texas than the Utes biggest story when they defeated Weber State. Why on earth did the win over Weber State get more national coverage than the other two wins Utah has had is beyond me.

Utah has to do something other than beat USU or BYU to be noticed on the national stage. They have to win a game against UCLA tonight or beat a team that finishes with a winning conference record. Utah has yet to prove its relevant in its conference let alone on a national stage.

Tators, it must feel pretty negative living as a fan of a team who hasn't done anything noteworthy on the natinoal stage in 20 years.

And hasn't done anything with its current coach to suggest anything is in its future.

  • Steven S Jarvis Orem, UT

Its a shame USU and BYU both lost to Utah this year. Utah State especially so since they are the best overall team in the state. I will not be surprised by any result tomorrow. USU could win this one handily if BYU turns the ball over like they did last week. BYU could dominate if they throw like they did last week and run like they have all year. Williams unfortunate injury was the deciding factor in the Cougars loss to Utah. Hoffman's absence was the difference in the Virginia loss.

I predict a low scoring affair 13-10 in the Cougars favor. These two teams are so evenly matched, I only see BYU having a distinct advantage in one category--special teams. That is where I expect BYU will have the best chance tomorrow.

I am going to enjoy tonight's game. It snowed in West Jordan today. Utes have a legit chance to finally get a win against a good team in the PAC. Good luck Utah! Good luck tomorrow BYU.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Oct. 3, 2013 6:55 p.m.

    @ Where is Hadley:

You must not think too highly of the Utes if you think BYU is third and sinking... and considering how the Utes barely beat BYU by single digits after the game went right to the end with BYU gaining more yardage and getting more first downs. BYU has improved since then. There is no evidence that Utah has.

And also considering how most people feel that the Aggies outplayed the Utes in their close came in SLC (again with more yardage, first downs and time of possession). Also, USU is currently ranked better than Utah by USA today and the Sagarin ratings. Therefore, it's much more likely that the true current order is: #1 Aggies, #2 BYU #3 Utah and #4 Weber.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Oct. 3, 2013 6:44 p.m.

    @ 54-10:

Anyone who has ever read at least several of your comments knows that you are not so much for the Aggies as you are against the Cougars. One of Chris B's little group of minions who always hate anything BYU. It must feel pretty negataive to always live with that kind of hatred.

  • Tators Hyrum, UT
    Oct. 3, 2013 6:39 p.m.

    @ Sambonethegreat:

It's extremely doubtful that you have much knowledge concerning how bad;y William's stinger was. Some are not nearly as bad as others. As such, some players are fine after a few days and others may take several weeks. It's nice that you are so concerned. But please know that there is a qualified sports team doctor who closely monitors the progress of injuries for each player who has any, and won't release anyone to play until that player is physically ready.

I've known Bronco for sometime and he has always kept the welfare of his players above the desire for winning. It's your insinuation of Bronco being reckless that is actually what is reckless. You are just shooting from the hip.

Why on earth would Bronco even consider having Williams play after a concussion and a spinal stinger in the Utah game?!?! That smacks of recklessness in my opinion. Recovering from a stinger takes more than a couple of weeks.

That makes sense. Utah state has clearly shown they are the second best program in the state the last few years. Byu is third, but weber is gaining. Or more correctly, byu is sinking.
