Plaisted was athletic, but was also a one-trick pony on offense. Seriously, he had one move - tke a pass on the left block or the middle of the key, take a dribble or two, and then toss up a jump hook. And Araujo? The guy was a bull. He had no finnesse whatsoever.

Brandon will need to build his body and be smart enough to deal with quicker players if he's going to stick, but he already has a much more versatile game then either of the two you mention. I say he sticks for a good long career as a backup, making an occasional spot start. Not a bad living.

Better and more athletic BYU bigs (Plaisted, Araujo) went into their first seasons with actual guaranteed contracts and still didn't pan out.

I'll pull for him but Davies has neither their athleticism nor the guaranteed contract.

Oops, got that wrong. Davies was suspended in 2011, not 2012, and he played against Iona/Machado.

It's sort of ironic that Machado was the star guard on the Iona College team that BYU came back from way down to beat in the 2012 NCAA tournament, after Davies had been suspended for the season.

Davies will win the rookie of the year, for sure.
