@adwight - I like your post and I agree 100% with you. Region 4 is tougher than most people think and I also think Lone Peak is better than most people think as well.

In the end I believe Region 4 comes down to five teams fighting for four spots. Lone Peak, Pleasant Grove, Riverton, American Fork and Herriman are all fighting for 4 playoff seeds. Right now...I think the 4 teams are going to be LP, PG, AF and Herriman. Riverton, because of their loss to AF is on the outside looking in. As adwight said...some key games over the next 3 weeks will give us some better clarity on where everyone sits. LP vs PG, Herriman vs AF and LP vs PG will sort most of the region out. In the end...I still believe that the season finale of Pleasant Grove at Herriman will determine the Region Title!!!

    Go Mustangs!!!

Herriman has a very good football team. They will give anyone they play fits. The only reason they lost to Binghsm was because they gave Bingham the ball on the 10 yard line twice for easy touchdowns.

Don't count LP out. That's a football team that is very close to getting it all together. They had their chances to beat Herriman as well as Alta they just haven't made plays. With a QB like theirs I wouldn't count them out. It seems like everyone wrote them off last year as well and look how far they went.

PG hasn't played anybody besides Timpview, We will find out how good they are in the coming weeks. They are a good football team. Region 4 is brutal this year.

AF and Riverton are also good football teams. One of these 5 isn't even going to make the playoffs. Going to be a slugfest to see who makes it.

@Tbirds4lyfe - To set the record straight...yes I am a Herriman homer...I had a son graduate from Herriman with a D-I football scholarship and have a sophomore son that plays on the team now. Lone Peak was not as good as I thought, but I said the same thing about Bingham. No rationalization...the media picked LP over PG to win Region 4...I'm not sure why, but it would be nice to know their reasoning. I actually like Herriman's chances to go 6-0 or 5-1 in region...we get Riverton and PG at home; we should beat Lehi and Westlake and then have a tough away game at AF. I respect PG alot and I'm actually predicting Herriman to be 7-2,5-0 and PG to be 9-0,5-0 going into the season finale game of PG at Herriman on Oct. 24th!

@reddesert7 - after Herriman's last season...I will never claim to have it all figured out. But I do feel that Herriman can play with any team in our region. AF and PG are 2 games that worry me...but I feel we beat the rest...including Riverton.

    Big Benzo,

Sounds like you got it all figured out? No need to play any more games! Don't count AF out. They can flat out put points on the board! Beating Riverton was not a "big" surprise like the article headlines, even though Riverton is very good! They also gave a very tough Brighton team all they could handle! If I were you, I would be wary of AF and Riverton or your crystal ball may crack and fall apart on you! :) Go Dixie!!

I actually think Herriman has as good a shot as any to beat Pleasant Grove. I have seen Pleasant Grove in person twice now. They are good but not great. Timpview physically dominated P.G. for three quarters of the game. Had Timpview had their current quarterback playing the position, (Covey) the game wouldn't have been that close.

BigBenzo, LP isnʻt as good as you think. Alta spanked them pretty bad, who in turn got waxed at home by Timpview, who lost at home to PG so any questions you have about PG, get over it. If youʻre going to be a homer, thatʻs fine and dandy but donʻt try to rationalize it by saying, "DNews and SLtrib picked LP to win it for a reason". They also picked Bingham to win it all the past 2 years and they werenʻt even close.
They reality is Herriman is more likely to be 3-2 than even 4-1 in the region. I wouldnʻt be surprised if they actually end up 2-3 as Region 4 is definitely the toughest region in the state from top to bottom. Heck, it wouldnʻt surprise me if Westlake won 2 games in the region and sneak into the playoffs. Sadly enough, UtahBruin sounds like a fair-weathered fan as they lost one Region game to Lehi (whoʻs better than most people think) and heʻs already predicting theyʻre done, as a Westlake fan. I certainly hope Westlake has more supportive and optimistic fans than you.

@eagle - In my comment I only said that the Pleasant Grove at Herriman game would determine the the Region 4 Champion. In my opinion, not only do I think the game will be close, I believe that Herriman will pull out the win at home and win the region and the #1 seed to the playoffs. The Pleasant Grove at Lone Peak game in 3 weeks give us a better idea about the Herriman-PG game.

I'm still undecided on Pleasant Grove. The Timpview win was impressive...but their other 3 wins are against questionable 4A teams. Again...the Lone Peak-PG game will answer some questions...but there had to be a reason that DesNews and SLTrib chose Lone Peak to win the region over PG.

Herriman simply needs to win out and go into the PG game at 7-2,5-0 and take care of business.

I really don't see the Herriman-PG game being that close. PG wins comfortably.

I agree with BigBen, I actually wish Herriman would have pulled that win out last week against Highland. If I had to make an early prediction, right now it looks like PG and Bingham for the championship, but there is still a lot of football to be played and I think PG still needs to be tested more. Huge win by Herriman last night on the road. I love it when LP loses. As a Westlake supporter and fan, we just do not have enough to win another game this year I don't think, it just gets tougher after our loss last night to Lehi. I would love to see Herriman win this region. Congrats on the win BigBen!

With losses by Lone Peak and Riverton...the Region 4 Title runs through Herriman and Pleasant Grove. Pleasant Grove vs Lone Peak, Pleasant Grove vs Riverton, Lone Peak vs Riverton and Riverton vs Herriman will be important games...but the season finale on October 24th Pleasant Grove at Herriman could very well determine the Region 4 Champion and the #1 seed.

I believe Herriman is in the drivers seat having already beat Lone Peak away and getting to play Riverton and Pleasant Grove both at home.

While Region 3 is still the strongest region...Region 4 will be the most interesting. With the surprising losing records of both Jordan and Alta...Region 3 dominance might not be as much as some thought it would be...however, Bingham and Brighton still make Region 3 very strong!!!
