    Yeah, the nicest part of the solution is that the single dispatch system comes under county control and budget. Local control of first responders slides further out of localities and under the mayor's tent.

    The first rule of any organization is to grow bigger, more complex and costly and in the process more remote from the citizens who pay for it.

    Why not make the whole state come under one dispatch system? One law enforcement authority? One fire authority? One school system?

    Local control may cost more in some accounting but the principle of local government and government controlled services is more important that saving a few bucks in the short run, and lets even requires the local cities and towns to be a part of the process.

    This change over appears to have a hidden price tag in materiel and salaries.
