Low teen birthrate shows youths making better choices, experts say

    Or it could just be the general trend of waiting until later to have children and start a family. The problem with using the "teen" birthrate is that it includes every female who is in her teen years but doesn't separate out those who are married. Teen Birthrate does not = teen unwed mothers. It includes all those who marry at age 17 18 or 19 and who have a child prior to turning 20. A young woman can marry at 17 and have a couple children before turning 20 and those get counted in this rate. Yes it also includes the unwed mothers but is not exclusive to them.
