This kind of reminded me of my single days. People would assume that because so and so is single and I am single we should date.

BYU and Utah are very dissimilar programs during the current coaching era.

Utah is known for running and BYU for passing.
BYU doesn't lose to bad teams like UNLV, Wyoming or New Mexico. Utah does.
Utah has had consistently amazing special teams. BYU loses games BECAUSE of special teams.
BYU doesn't storm the field when it wins games it should. Utah storms the field quite a bit.

    @ downunder.

Thank you for your incredible insight on the decision that went into the invite of the U. I had no idea that Utah AND Colorado were such patsy schools and were only invited to pad the Win-Loss column of their superior PAC opponents.

Thank you for imparting your superior wisdom and knowledge.

    Go UTES!!

Hey cris, you think its funny that kyle is on the hot seat?? whats up with the LOLing?? its pretty sad actually cause kyle is a great coach. must be all the 4 star recrutes that utah has, they have too much talent to win... Hopefully kyle keeps his job but if he does get fired, his alma mater would welcome him back!

Devonte Christopher? Has graduated. Try Anthony Denham and Andre Lewis though

Jake Murphy compared to Friel? Not even close

Finally, comparing NFL talent is futile. The Utes lead and it's not even close

Can't wait for the game in cougieville

With the coaches on the hotseat were all coaches considered? Or was it like other articles where its only talking about power programs?

My guess is that MWC/WAC/pseudo WAC teams like byu weren't even considered.

Or were there coaches in the top 5 from Conference USA, MWC, and Sun Belt?

Another thing way different between Utah and BYU is that CBS sportsline has kyle as one coaches in the hot seat. In fact I believe he was top 5. Bronco on the other hand....

The difference is that Utah is NOT feared in the conference and PAC schools know that they can chalk up the game with Utah as a guaranteed win. Believe me, Utah is only an afterthought around the PAC Athletic discussion tables. Utah was inly invited because they needed some easy wins in both major sports. Utah has been a huge disappointment to the conference. Colorado is right behind them. Sorry to break the news but it is what it is. Only winning will change that.

Does the ute fans realize they have only had above average success for 1 yes count them 1 decade. Not many people paid much attention to them as of late. Not sure where the over confidence comes from.

As a coug fan being liked the u of u is very offensive. Tread lightly.

    @ cb
Wrong, if you asked the country who won in the "wanna-be" national championship games last year, most people couldn't tell ya, let alone 6 years ago.

One additioanl fact...both teams have ignorant fans that make the rest of the fans from both sides look bad.

    GO UTES!!

    GO COUGS!!

Health and safety and success to both programs.

The whole nation knows Utah beat Bama in a BCS bowl game, capping an undefeated season and finishing with the best record in the entire country!

No one knows anything about byu's new mexico and san diego bowls!

Chris seems more excitable than usual. You ok, Champ?

One team is like the little kid hanging around his big brother and his friends, thinking he's "one of the guys" but being laughed at behind his back, and in some cases right to his face. Wedgies are prominently involved.

One team (or specific fans) thinks being invited to join a conference is an accomplishment in and of itself. Breaking .500 once you get there is apparently an afterthought.

One team points out that it produces loads more NFL talent than its (former) rival, yet its on-field success in terms of record in recent years has been sorely lacking. One team might want to wonder how the team with so many inferior 1 and 2-star recruits manages to win more consistently.

one program goes to bowl games and one doesn't go to bowl games.

Wrong. BYU is a legacy football program that is legendary due to our constant winning and distinguished NFL stars.

In sending guys to the NFL, Kyle had RECRUITED and HAD DRAFTED over 15 guys.

    So does Steve Spurrier
    And Nick Saban
    And Les Miles
    And Chris Peterson
    And Urban Meyer
    And Mack Brown

Know how many guys Bronco has recruited and had drafted?

    15? No
    10? No
    9? No
    8? No
    7? No
    6? No
    5? No
    4? No
    3? No
    2? No
    1? Still no

Part of being a good coach includes recruiting and developing talent.

Bronco has ZERO of his recruits that have been drafted.

    Not one

One program has more top 5 finishes.
One program has 0 top 5 finishes in last 2 decades

One program has more undefeated seasons
One program has no undefeated seasons in last 2 decades

One program has more head to head wins(and on verge of graduating class SWEEP)

One program EARNED a power conference invite
One team was approached about a power conference invite, lost that chance and burned more bridges
