Should be a competitive Region. PG has the best chance to contend with Lp in my opinion. State playoffs cant come soon enough with Bingham, Alta, Jordan and Ayracuse in the mix.

@I KNOW WHO YOU ARE - I say rebuilding for a couple of reasons: 1. Herriman is a newer we just hit 2,000+ students for this school year. 2. We had a solid core of 3rd year seniors who are now gone. 3. Herriman is jumping back up to 5A.

Being close to the football program...I can guarantee you that we did not cut 200+ kids last year. The only year we cut that many players was in our first year in 2010 because 350 kids came to try out!!!

The Herriman secondary has little experience and is untested. We have a stalwart at LB, but his counterpart has little experience. The defensive line is solid and has 3 strong players with experience. The OL has gaps to fill, the WR corps has gaps to fill and we lost our best running back in school history...fortunately we have a good 1000+ yard replacement. We also have a new QB.

So...maybe rebuilding is not a good about a transitional year. Herriman will be solid this year. Look for another playoff berth and a springboard to championship runs in 2014 and 2015!!!

@ BIGBENZO, How is it that Herriman is rebuilding? How is it that Schools who have HUGE enrollment numbers rebuild? with your amount of kids herriman should be reloading not rebuiding. I put Herriman in the same catagory as Bingham (2,400+), Alta (2,450), Davis (2,250), and Riverton (2,491) as in amount of students enrolled that should be at the top of High school football every year. Stop making me laugh. Herriman cut 200+ kids last year from Football cuz there was so many kids that came out for try outs. You sound like a Rich man who has to make a tough decision on which of his 10 cars he should drive today. The smaller 5a schools of utah are the ones who truly are rebuilding every single year. Herriman, Bingham, Alta (not no more cuz of C.Canyon), Riverton and Davis just RELOADS not REBUILDS.

I for once am agreeing with plyxply which I don't do often, but I also think the reporter made a mistake as Region 3 top to bottom is the toughest football region in the state. I can't wait to see how things play out this season. One week till kickoff!!

plyxply - I can respect that. I will say that Herriman lost 3 critical players last year on offense: The QB was a D-I signee for defense, the TB was a D-I signee and the TE was two-year All-Region. On defense, we lost 4 critical players from last year: The OLB was a D-I signee, the FS was a D-I signee on offense, the SS was a D-I signee and the other SS was two-year All-Region.

Herriman has some bright spots at RB, FB and WR on offense and at DL and LB on defense. The work will be needed at QB on offense and DB on defense.

I truly believe that Herriman will be in the State Championship mix in 2014 and 2015. Even this year look for Herriman to surprise some teams. It only takes 3 Region wins to get into the Playoffs. Herriman should beat Lehi and Westlake and between Riverton, AF and PG...Herriman will find a way to beat 1 and possibly 2 of them.

Herriman will be in the playoffs this year...its just a matter of it will be the #2, #3 or #4 seed.

benzo, I think Herriman will keep improving and with the influx of your youth program will be a good 5A team soon. With that said I still think Region 4 will be 1-LP, 2-PG, 3-AF, 4-Riverton or Herriman, and after that it doesn't matter. If Herriman makes the 5A playoffs I'd say that's a major accomplishment against some established teams.
Not having a qb set will hurt Herriman this year and not having a full O line will hurt a bit as well, especially when you play Highland and Bingham with their bigs.

plyxply - I think the reporter made a mistake...Region 3 is the "SEC" of Utah. With that being said...I think Region 4 is 2nd and could be dubbed the "Big 10" of Utah.

This is somewhat of a rebuilding year because Herriman is making the jump back to 5A and because it has the toughest schedule in Utah. Herriman plays #1 Bingham, #4 Jordan, #6 Lone Peak, #9 Pleasant Grove, #13 Highland, #16 Riverton, and #25 American Fork.

Although this is a rebuilding year, I disagree with the 5th place assessment in the Region. Herriman will be a stronger Region 4 foe than most think. Herriman will have challenges against Bingham, Lone Peak and Jordan and needs to make sure the game is close going into the 4th quarter. I expect wins against West Jordan, Westlake and Lehi. I am predicting "surprising" wins over Highland and Riverton. Also predicting a strong Region win over American Fork...which makes the October 24th Pleasant Grove game the battle for the #2 Playoff seed!!!

Herriman should finish 6-4, 4-2 or possibly 7-3, 5-1 with the #3 or #2 seed out of Region 4 and 4th straight playoff appearance.

Riverton, Lehi, American Fork make up the SEC of Utah high school football? Come on now, Region 3 is a superior region and will be again this year. LP is good, PG is good, but neither would win the Region 3 title so while Region 4 is definitely a good region, it's not as good as Region 3 in anyone's opinion.
If PG can find a qb they'll be as good as LP. LP will find out how good they are week 2 at Alta, but I'm putting my money on Alta and Bingham in the finals this year.
