In our rush to rebuild our world into one where everyone must drive to live, we forgot that we all get old if we are lucky and our ability to drive safely fades away. My top retirement priority is to relocate myself to a walkable community located on a mass transit corridor line.
My grandma lived in an old style pre car small town where everyone lived in a grid of streets that extended two or three blocks on either side of main street. She remained carless and independent into her nineties. Get out of suburbia before you get old or prepare yourself to be helpless and dependent on others.
