Because the jazz would still have to pay him $8 million next season, even if they waived him. He had a player option on his deal, clearly wouldn't get that kind of $$$ in the market, so he took it.

    @ dumprake

Williams could have left the Jazz this summer but decided to exercise an option which keeps him with the Jazz through the coming season.

As I an others have said for a while, Alec Burks deserves major minutes. To start at shooting guard would suit his skills more, but he may start at point and finish the game at SG. It matters most that Burks and Hayward play major minutes, along with Favors and hopefully Kanter, too.

Why on earth did the Jazz get rid of all those pretty good players, and keep a worthless dunce like Marvin Williams? Get rid of him, he can't play, he's lazy, he can't shoot, he doesn't rebound. Again, why are they keeping him? I'm stunned.

In my opinion, Alec already deserves to start. He rode the bench early last year and by years end proved he should be starting. This article headline is a non story.
