Austin was the only one with real NFL talent. Koz was right behind him in skills. The rest were close, but no banana. This doesn't mean they weren't effective, they were just in a system which inflated their apparent value to outsiders.

Kozlowski was the best, the only reason he didn't have a better pro career was because of his knee problems. He was considered one of the best when he played and by many (even across the country) one of the best that ever played college football. His catch against Utah among three defenders plus his one in the bowl game against Michigan were some of the best catches in all of history.

Phil Odle did play for the Detroit Lions

Over half of the players on the list were drafted by NFL teams:
    Austin Collie - Indianapolis Colts
    Phil Odle - Detroit Lions
    Margin Hooks - Miami Dolphins
    Reno Mahe - Philadelphia Eagles
    Mark Bellini - Indianapolis Colts
    Todd Watkins - Arizona Cardinals
    Glen Kozlowski - Chicago Bears
    Danny Plater - Denver Broncos

But only Collie, Mahe, Bellini, Watkins and Kozlowski played in the league.

It is expected that Hoffman will be a high draft choice next year and will get a good look and will achieve success similar to what Collie has done. For Austin it is unfortunate that the concussions and knee injury have severely limited his time on the field. But as far as his being a successful wide receiver during his time with the Colts, his teammates and coaches have been complimentary and supportive as he has recovered from his injuries.

Hopefully he will be able to hook on with the 49ers this season. He had a good workout a few weeks ago. If not Peyton Manning's "go-to-guy" might take a look at the Denver Broncos. They are deep at wide receiver today but who knows what will happen in camp.
