Its too bad that simple skepticism and basic critical thinking skills are not
taught in our schools like they should be. The problem we have in this country
is that too many people buy into something called the "lottery effect"
where they believe, despite the enormous and overwhelming odds, that they are
bound to hit the jackpot some day. Lotteries have been called a "tax on the
stupid" and for good reason. All gambling has the odds stacked way against
you, allow from random chance of a winner to make you believe your next,
it's actually rigged that way. Veges is a great examples with all the
casino noise, bells ringing, lights flashing, to entice you into believing
people are winning all over the place, when in fact they are far and few
Yet some foolish people want to bring this plague down upon Utah. I hope we are
wise enough to resist them.
