    @Sneaky Jimmy

    Are you really that naive? "You can trust govt as much as you can trust other people"

    False. People in positions of power, and especially in government, where there are protections and bureaucracy that others don't get are far more frequently involved in violations of privacy and trust.

    The career bureaucrats are exactly that. They are unfamiliar with regular life. They believe as a result of being part of the government that they are in fact entitled to privileges/actions others are not.

    There needs to be a serious cleansing in Washington D.C.. All politicians from both parties need to be voted out within 2 election cycles. All the old lifetime geezers enforce the corruption that is rampant and new perspectives and initiatives are "brought in line" when the newly elected people get to town.

    All the bureaucrats need to vanish on a regular basis as well. The people are so blinded by what goes on every day, like the IRS, it was allowed to continue for far too long before it was even noticed. From day one somebody should have said something but like mindless liberal progressive drones they proceed to violate public trust.

    You can trust government as much as you can trust other people. Most people are good but many will misuse power if they have the opportunity. The liberal thinkers in the Colonies of 1770 understood this fact much better than we do today. Our Government is broken and until the trust is restored (and Barack Can restore it) there will be more mistrust and disaffection. Top of this list is fixing the IRS problem.

    She may have a future with the IRS. Retaliation will be a function of her job description.

    Anyone surprised?

    We are always told about how safe it is for the government to collect information on us, and that it will only be used for lawful purposes.

    Well, we know that the IRS cannot be trusted, nor the Justice Department, and now, not even the state Department of Motor Vehicles.

    Personal privacy is a concept that is very attractive, but becoming almost impossible to achieve. And that is before even considering all the criminal hackers and the like who want to steal your information.

    Just remember, when they want "universal background checks" for gun buyers, that all the information on who has a gun will be strictly confidential, and never used except to be sure the buyer is not a criminal. No sane person can believe this is true. Not after what we have seen already.
