    There was a time. When quality made to last hand carved built with integrity, was our history. that old stuff is proof.

    "The dirtier, the better," she said. "That's when you know it came from somewhere good."

    Such metal items are mostly from Mexico, then dragged through the fields a few times - and covered with dirt for a year.

    We heard about this trick years ago at the Sun Valley antique markets, from a dealer who hauled in lots of "antique metalwork" from Mexico and sold most of it.
