DOE is not the only department that has increased spending over the last 4 years at an alarming rate. Department of agriculture(Welfare) has increased 30%. Department of state(international aid) has increased nearly 40% since Obama took office. the increase in the deficit is due to increased spending in government in the last 4 years. Dont take my word for it, check out the fed governments own budgets.

This is what happens when "YOU didn't build it" and the government does!

Liberal ideas lead to abject failure everywhere they are tried. How many Solyndras is it going to take? Better yet, how many Detroits will it take before we reject this philosophy forever? The idea that the Federal Government can create jobs is so wrong-headed. They don't create jobs or economies. This administration is a corrupt failure. It really is.

    Um... wow!

"...the DOE spent $11.25 million for each job created."

"Unlike previous green energy investment announcements from the Obama administration, this one was offered very quietly by the DOE and attracted little interest from most media outlets."

These are major policy initiatives and decisions with major financial disasters as a direct result of those policies, and the press won't cover it!? I know that there is bias in the media, but the major players in the media continue to astound me with their blatant blind obedience to the liberal cause! There has to be someone in the left-leaning media with enough common sense and courage to speak up!

Never mind... I forgot that big media and many in power are all about controlling the message to maintain their power and influence, regardless of the facts. This could have come straight out of Michael Crichton's book, "State of Fear". If you haven't read it, do so! The dynamics of what we see play out with media/politics/policies made much more sense to me after reading it.

"Using DOE's own data, the Institute for Energy Research has calculated that the DOE spent $11.25 million for each job created."

So, they will admit to spending $11.25 **Million** for **each job**!

I would love to know how many of those **Billions** (in aggregate) were funneled into either the campaigns or personal bank accounts of Obama's friends and cronies.

This is the kind of corruption for which the banana republics of S. America were made so infamous!

I can only hope that these revelations of corruption/incompetence along with the Benghazi debacle and the IRS witch hunts are only the start of the revelations that will finally open the eyes of all those who've been so badly duped by Obama and his helpers.

....and will continue to be a black hole as long as Barack has a say.

Although the current DOE loan programs are a glowing sign of poor short term investment choices made by the Federal Government. Your article does not make mention of the billions of dollars in subsidies the US Government provides to the Oil industry. It would be nice if the article goes into more of a detailed comparative analysis rather than a short quip about alternative energy companies.

‘Green energy loans have been a black hole for U.S. tax dollars, government data show’

    This artilce is totally ridiculous.

    Granted there were mistakes,
and CORPORATIONS who milked and bilked the Government for Billions of $$, took the money and ran, but that was Businesses who did it, NOT the Government.

Meanwhile -- Let's remember to keep things in perspective....

The Bush Wars in the Middle East have been a Black Hole of spending to the tune of $3.3 TRILLION.

    Mote vs. the Beam.

I'm not a big believer in Government spending money on the Green Energy industry because I believe that it should be done through markets, but I have to speak up here. I think the loans were about creating Green Energy, not jobs. Jobs may have been created, but advancing the technology was the purpose of the loans.
