I function ok, but bi polar can make life overwhelming. Just realizing what was happening to me has helped tremendously. I don't get the highs. I mostly get down. I don't want to face things or be around people. God, there are times when I feel overwhelmed. But life is too good to let it get the best of me. medication helps so much. People around me have made all of the difference. They truly have. When we understand these things, it is so much easier to deal with it and to overcome. Thank God my experience has been mild compared to most!. But I have had enough experience to know what hell really is! Nobody can take it completely away, but they do help me when things get hard. They help me focus on what life really is. People do make a difference

Started psyche meds in 1987 ... and I'm still no them 16 years later with no end in site. These aren't fun medicines. What I take is more like anesthesia in a pill. I'd advise anyone, "Don't be in a rush to take psyche-meds."
I am against TV advertisements for psychiatric pharmaceuticals!
