I guess I should not be to hard on Vice President Dick Cheney, After all he practiced what he preached. I refer to his quote "Deficits do not matter."

Wait a minute all you conservative posters. Didn't our former Vice President who received an honorary doctorate from BYU say and I quote "Deficits do not matter".

Anyone wish to dispute that quote?

ask BO your question about it being unpatriotic. BO's the one who accused bush of unpatriotic debt in 2008. But since you worship BO, I know you cannot ask BO that question.

asking hedge fund companies presidents what they think of our retirement funds system and what we should do different is kind of asking the fox if we should have a lock on the chicken coop and if so what kind.

ronnie, you're talking percentage rise and not actual dollars for the national debt under Reagan. The facts obviously don't worry you. But, blaming Reagan is a refreshing change after blaming everything on Bush. How many presidents have we had since Reagan who have improved our debt policy? Who's next to blame, Chester A. Arthur?

"Unpatriotic"? So, since we have had debt since basically the inception of America, and since it has grown since basically the inception of America, at what amount does the debt become "unpatriotic"?

I wonder how much of the article was just a sales pitch by the head of Fidelity? He wants you to buy his company's retirement services.

    Old man,
your distortion of the truth has reached a new low. Reagan and Tip O'Neal worked together to EXTEND the life of SS by a generation. So you are blaming Tip O'Neal, too, when you say "and friends"? BO has robbed MUCH more from the SS trust fund than reagan ever dreamed of. And don't forget that the dems controlled both houses of congress during reagan's years. So you HAVE to be blaming dems! WOW will wonders never cease?

wanna bet? BO added more debt in 38 months than bush did in 96, and multiples of the amount of debt that reagan added, and you REALLY want to start making comparisons? You must really hate BO!

I hope you all have a child that will care for you when you get old.
Your retirement will be eaten by banks, the government and those who will and can steal from you.
We live in a nation where the elderly are treated like fools to be taken advantage of.
There is no respect for those who have gone before. Nor is there respect for those yet to come.
Get all you can from everyone around you is the mantra of this rising nation.

Adding seven trillion dollars to the deficit is a worlds record for just one person to do in a little over four years. It's irresponsible, and unpatriotic.

Obama's budget equals $150,000 for each second in a year. Explain how Reagan did something like this. I'll be waiting.

At least Obama will not triple the federal debt like Reagan did. Reagan was the greatest example of borrowing money from future generations.

    one old man:

Obama is not the blame for anything, is he?

Going back to the Reagan years is pretty low.

Hasn't Obama had four years to fix at least some things.

It's not what he says. It's what he's done.

    What did he do? DO!

Social Security will be fine if first 250k of earnings is taxed. If nothing is done the payments will have to be cut, but will still provide the majority of retirement pay for most seniors. Change from pensions to 401K was great for big business and bad for workers. Protect Social Security and you protect seniors and the money they put into the economy.

Social Security WAS secure until Reagan started raiding it to cover income lost to his tax reductions.

    Thank you, Ronnie and friends.
