Duckhunter, touche. Your'e right it's not Rock's job. I am saying Rock was his usual sarcastic self. It's the type of writing he indulges in. Hey it's sports, and in the sports world sarcasm has its' place. You know with people like us who take our fandom to serious. What you deny it?

As for Rock, it's easy for many to validate or upset their stance on his pieces. It's no big deal to me personally. I often get a chuckle from Rock's back to reality pessimism. I do see Brad's intent here as not saying much of anything regarding Erickson on his introductory press conference other than to mock him exclusively. More balance in between is my critique.

I find Rock to be creative when he takes the time to combine relative descriptions with simplified punchlines, and not just typing down endless comedic attempts. You can relate to Brad. You love sarcasm as well. It's all good. Really it is. A little less intent on trying to hurt people with words and we could get along.

Do you really LOL as often as you type? Go easy (balance).

"Close, but not flukey at all, simply great execution."

Why don't you actually "talk sports" instead of talking bias. A field goal block requires just as great of execution as a prayer of a pass.

"did they not almost go to the Pac12 Championship game in their first year?"

Sorry to cast a cold water reality check on your fantasy, but the ONLY reason Utah even had a chance of playing in the PAC 12 championship game was because the best team in the PAC South, USC, was on probation, and the rest of the PAC South was so pathetic that not a single one of them finished with winning record, yet even with such a mediocre hurdle to clear, the Utes were incapable of getting past a pathetic 10-loss Colorado team, at home, a Buffaloes team that hadn't won a road game in FOUR years.

"Wouldn't that mean all three of Bronco's wins over Utah came in 'flukey' fashion?"

Close, but not flukey at all, simply great execution.

I didn't realize it was Rock's responsibility to give erickson a "nice welcome to town"?

More Brad Rock sarcasm. It's easy to find it funny or offensive. It all depends on how much stock you pay to it, or how invested you are in your bias. I don't mind Rock but I do think this piece is certainly not a nice welcome to town for Dennis Erickson.

Who knows how long Erickson will stay at Utah. I'm just glad we have him now. It seems like the author is trying to make something out of nothing. If the goal is simply to get byu fans and Utah fans taking their typical jabs at one another, then I guess it was successful.

As for me, I just hope he can help the Ute offense get better as long as he is here. I hope he can mentor Brian Johnson into a better OC. It's pointless to speculate on all the other stuff.

Welcome to the Utah family coach Erickson and get that hip healed up quick because spring camp is just around the corner.

    Go Utes!

    KVN/Hoff want 0-4 against UTAH:

With in state games, BYU has the most wins.

BYU beat Utah State who beat Utah.--

Utah didn't win half their games, so they don't count for anything.

    State Champs!--enough said

Now let's look at other sports.

I have pointed this out a number of times and keep getting told to quit living in the past. well utes fans it is time to quit living in the past d.e. has not done anything in how many years and kyle has seen his record decline since 2008

Not sure I agree with the tone of this article. In full disclosure, I like the move as the Utes needed some offensive knowledge on the staff given their awful results last year on the offensive side of the ball. That said, I don't agree with the Co part of his job title...let's call like it is...Johnson needs some more time to develop and is a solid QB Coach.

"Laughable as that seems for a team that has won only seven conference games in two years"...did they not almost go to the Pac12 Championship game in their first year? This statement only proves that the Rock can do better than this...don't be a Ute hater.

    "KVN/Hoff want 0-4 against Utah"

Wishful thinking Christy. We all know that the Utes are shaking in their cleats just thinking about what KVN and Hoffman are going to do to them next September.

"BYU hasn't found a way to get past Whittingham"

Actually, Bronco is 3-5 versus Whittingham and lead the head-to-head with Whittingham 3-2, before Kyle won 3 straight, 2 in fluky fashion.

    The worm always turns.

BYU had only beaten Utah 5 times before LaVell Edwards became BYU's head coach. BYU won 18 of the next 20 games from 1972 to 1992.

The same Miami team BYU beat in 1990. I like the sound of that.

The future of state champion Cougar football is brighter!

"key similarities between Utah and his national championship team"

I like the sound of that.

Is there another team in the country with 2 coaches that have EACH taken their teams to top 2 final rankings in the country?

The future of Ute football is bright!
