"BYU is only great against bad teams." Would that include the win over Utah?

Why do we really need a Ute fan to tell us anything? If Utah is so great, then you guys don't need to hover over our boards (even angling to always be first). Really confident people don't care what the competition is doing, they just worry about themselves. How many average posts are on the Ute boards by Ute fans? Not as many as on the BYU side. How many Utes troll the BYU side? Many more than than BYU trolls on the Ute side.

Who has the the "little brother" mentality here?

Overall a good game. Turnovers by BYU at 10 which is respectable. The offensive rebounds by Santa Clara was at 28% of their chances. Our offensive rebounds was not much better at 32% of the available chances. We need to be more aggressive on the boards.

Kudos to Brock Zylstra for taking a shot other than a three pointer. He really does have as much talent as Haws and Carlino, if he learns to mix in the percentage of 3 point shots.

Davies is back. The chemistry between him and Sharp grows. Davies is a great passing center. Passing centers need the ball occasionally at the elbow, then turn and face the basket and create. We can not use Brandon too much. But we do need to vary where he gets the ball.

Use and train Kaufusi or lose to St Mary's, Gonzaga, or any Tournament worthy team. We need a physical inside presence. This isn't a want, it's a must. Please Dave, you have great guards, excellent wings, excellent center, great coaching and no inside presence.

To all haters that post here,"GREAT ENTERTAINMENT". They stir up the pot and make life interesting. How boring without them!!!

Let's face it guys, when you have nothing to cheer for people lash out and their rival that they can't beat. We see it all of the time in society. It's really pretty sad that more Utah fans comment on BYU articles that BYU fans do. Maybe when Utah can start winning they will quiet down and stick to their own articles.

I have a long standing affiliation with the U and used to cheer for them as loud as BYU until I started reading the hatred of the Utah fans in these articles. I still have some respect for the University just not the fans.

I can't imagine feeling that a loss in the PAC is better than a win in the WCC. On second thought, I guess that's how some people see the world. I think that Utah would have just as much trouble finishing in the top tier of the WCC as they will in the PAC. Do you really think that Utah could beat Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, San Francisco, Portland, LMU or BYU (Oh, that;s right, you can't beat BYU)?

You must really love last year, this year and the many years to come for the Utes. I doubt there is another fan out there who is with you on that one. If there is, I would sure like to hear from them!

A loss in the PAC12 is better than a win in the WCC. Go Utes!

Carlino is getting better but still forces things when he shouldn't which is frustrating to watch. I like his improvement overall. He still doesn't seem to know how to get the team involved at certain times in the game. Hopefully that will come. He's scoring good which takes some pressure off Haws but not enough. The other players need to become more involved offensively. Sharp had a nice game.

    Golly apologies fellas!

Big win guys. Awesome. BYU #1. Carlino for Heisman! 1984 rules...

Can I stay on your board now?

PS...I do like BYU...just not the fans! Hoosiers #1...that's my second team...both red and white...

I can choose to read the comics on Sunday morning or I can come out here to DN and read comments from indycrimson, Chrissy B, and other Utah fans that love to follow BYU sports. It's wannabe, wouldda, couldda, shouldda, wish-I-were-a-Coug, jealots that bring a smile to my day. Utah is my alma-mater and I can route for both schools. I at least have the courage to admit that I'm a fan of both. Come on indy - come out of your cupboard and play. I have a hunch that you have season tickets to BYU sporting events. Go Cougars AND their loyal Ute fans who die for BYU sports.

Typical jealous spin from the kids on the hill. Sorry, no need to forgive anything, the only bubbles being burst are Utah's.

After losing to California(13-8) and getting blown off their home court by Stanford(13-8) by their largest home loss deficit ever, the Utes nearly blow a 22-point lead at home and barely hang on to beat Colorado(14-7) by 3 points.

    Here's a little reality check for U:

#11 Utah(10-11, 2-7) will be at #12 Oregon St.(11-10, 1-7) on Wednesday in the battle for the PAC 10.2 basement. It's a must win for the Utes, if they are going to top last season's win total of THREE conference wins and avoid finishing dead last in the conference. Even with their weak pre-season schedule, the Utes have ZERO chance of reaching their stretch goal of having a winning season.

Meanwhile, the Cougars are still in the hunt for their 7th straight 25+ win season and their 7th straight NCAA tournament berth, something only a handful of teams have achieved during the Dave Rose era at BYU.

@ indycrimson, Do us a favor please...Go away! Vamoosh, little one! Be gone and leave us alone, will ya?

Go Cougars! And congrats on a great win too, Utes!

Yes, BYU played #82 Santa Clara. You do realize that there are about 350 basketball teams in Division 1, right? Which means that SC is well within the top third.

Beating a team that is that is in the top 30% in the nation isn't something to look down on.

On another note, I think other WCC teams will be taking a lesson out of this game: Don't hit Carlino in the eye.

Why do you care indycrimson? Why do you come and bother BYU fans? BYU beat your team already so go pound your chest over your rare win on your own boards. Or is it because there is no reason to post on Ute message boards? Why do you need to come anywhere and 'burst bubbles'? Is it because the Utes finally found a win and were lucky enough to beat Colorado so you can come out and start thumping your chest as to how good the Utes are and the "mighty Pac-12"? You were right when you said about BYU that "[They] don't play many quality teams." Maybe BYU should take Utah off the schedule to help fix that. But since that won't happen (because BYU admin isn't as petty as the Utah Admin), why don't you just go thump your chest with other Ute fans on your message boards and the leave the BYU fans alone.

indycrimson----all that smack and you forgot that Santa Clara has 16 wins this year. More than the Utes will have in the next 3 years added together.

If Sharp and Carlino play like they did tonight, the Gaels are toast and the Zags will have all they can handle. Next job Cougs!

Davies had an acceptable game showed more signs of killer instinct under the basket, but missed too many free throws again and turned the ball over a couple of times by not protecting the ball. Overall - a good team effort from start to finish.

There you go again! Great team ? Great game? Super win?

Boys please remember who you are. You played #82...Santa Clara. They are roughly as good as Indiana (state)...but not quite as good as Stephen F Austin. You don't play many quality teams. Gonzaga is your only quality opponent and they beat you as badly as you beat up on the whimpy teams you man handle.

It reminds me of the sophomore high school kid who goes out for the wrestling team confidently because he can "noogie" his 12 year old brother at will in the backyard. Only to find out kids his age and his strength can noogie him at will.

BYU is only great against bad teams. But very bad against good teams.

Forgive me for busting your bubbles!

Congratulations on a great game and a super win. They played well as a team. I'd like to see this kind of effectiveness against a really good team. There are a couple of chances coming up. Go Cougars. Please surprise me!

A complete game from start to finish against a great team. Carlino is going to be a handful for many teams the rest of the season. Good to see Sharp turn it up tonight. If they had one more good big man they would be unstoppable.
