I'm not sure "silent" is a Y fan. I think most Y fans are ecstatic to have USU ranked 16th. It was a rare bright spot for us to defeat a team ranked so high.

Congrats to USU for finally having a good season after 40 or 50 years of waiting. It is a touching story that really warms my heart. But lets not fool ourselves, Aggies. The best football program in the state needs to have the best team in the state more than once every 40 or 50 years.

It was an excellent year indeed. With over 70% of our starters returning next year, we should have another great season. Maybe not 11 wins, but I bet the floor for the Aggies next year is 9 wins.

Thank you Gary Andersen for leaving the program in substantially better shape than you found it.

More jealous Y fans. So Shocking! If it's not them trying to bring down the U for being in the PAC 12 it seems they also are trying to bring down the fact that USU had a great year. Why in the world wouldn't fans be excited????? DUH kind of a no brainier!!!

    Silent Lurker,

Thank you for using past statistics as a reference. I didn't know that in order for the Aggies to be ranked 16th, they actually had to have winning seasons every year for the past 30 years. Looks like the AP doesn't know that either. There has to be some sort of mistake here. BYU should be ranked #1 because they won a national championship once, didnt you hear? It doesn't matter how a team performs this year, rankings are only based on past years, right?

There's no way you're just scratching at anything you can get to make USU look inferior than your kittens simply because your team isn't ranked and USU is. That would be unreasonable.

Although I understand your concern about how the Aggie Fans should be humble, silent, not expecting much......

I think you should be more concerned about your own pride, loftiness, and expecting so little from your at the Y.

But I do appreciate your concern

USU has made the biggest leap in college football over the past 5 years. From a program that regular resided in the bottom 12 to end the season as #16. Aggies do have a lot to be proud of. With Chuckie returning as a junior USU is poised for another great season next year in the MWC.

As a Cougar fan, I want to heartily congratulate the Aggies on a great year. Congratulations! Best luck next year. Getting a top 25 ranking is tough, and you guys certainly earned it.

On the BCS front, Utah State and BYU need to team up. We have a prime opportunity through the state legislature to fight the BCS.

Once again we need to remind the aggie fans that this was there best year in what 30 something years in football. They beat Utah's worst team in at least 10 years at home in overtime. They lost to one of BYU's worst teams in years. I don't see much to be bragging about here. Sure they had a good year and should be congratulated, but let's not get carried away here. Their ranking in the top 25 is questionable at best.

    Hi joseywales,

Forgive me, but I have serious doubts that it should have stated "Utah State." After all, bowl ineligible Auburn (3-9, 0-8 SEC) is ranked right behind them at #29!

Looks to me like some overenthusiastic fans (of multiple schools) are having difficulties accepting their team's poor performance.

Hawkeye- I called a buddy that works for ESPN, he told me that the "others receiving votes" should have stated Utah State, not Utah. But because it really doesn't matter, it probably won't get fixed, unless a bunch of uptight people call and complain about it. So, get calling!

USU=best football program in the state.
USU=best basketball program in the state.
    Go Aggies!

Congrats to the Aggies for a great year! I hope that you can continue to find success with all of the changes going on in Logan!

As a side note, I wonder if the Deseret News will run a story about the final ESPNU fan rankings. The bowl ineligible University of Utah football team (5-7, 3-6 PAC12) finished ranked #28. Some of the Utah fans must have been including what they considered to be moral victories.
