Another heartfelt article by Lois. I love your articles!

I think in the Spirit of giving we should remember that our attempts to give are not always as welcomed as we think they should be. I hope that in these attempts we aren't discouraged and give up. Many of these folks have brought upon themselves their own misery, but that is not excuse that we should give them up or throw them away. NO person is disposable. Every person is precious to God. It helps to keep a divine perspective when giving service to many of these very difficult cases.

I know of a woman near us that has estranged her family, she's old, demanding, pushy, rude, and bitterly lonely. She never forgets when she's been slighted, and tells story after story of people who've done her wrong. She plays the victim card, the helpless old lady card, she's a racist, and can be mean. At first I really struggled to help her, but I've learned to love the scripture in Mosiah 4:17-19, and just give of my time and patience. I'm not perfect at it, but I know I'm getting better.
