    I wasn't able to see an * anywhere on it.

    I agree with amanap. All of the semifinal teams would have a * had they won, just like pine view if they won in 2007.

    Football purist? I'd like to see your definition of that term. Could be quit humorous, lay it on me. Reality and rational thinking are generally lost on the ignorant. Think about that for a moment, please. Why not instead of degrading and attempting to humiliate others simply try rooting for your team, I'm sure they need a few strokes. Good point PAC 12 but I think AMANAP does not need the caffeine. Most likely a valium would do the trick.

    @curious george

    Are you talking about doing things differently like stealing money? Teaching classless unsportmanlike behavior? Cause that's all I saw from the Wong-coached teams. This years team at least seemed to be under control which is good...

    @pac 12

    You drink Diet Coke? That's disgusting and you just lost all credibility.

    I'm not from Pine View mab, just a high school football purist. And your post was dishonest or ignorant. If Pine View did win ever then yes it would be tainted and with an * just like Timpview's all are because they do the same thing that Timpview does.

    Sorry, but you really have no idea about the Timp program. But I have to say you are correct, that they do things differently there. First, they take average players and make them good, they take good players and make them great. It's called coaching. There really is no big secret. It's a system that starts in the 9th grade and is built on for 4 years of an athletes career. If you wanted to come and see it in action, I'm sure the coaching staff would help you out. Come on up north and see for yourself, then spout off.

    It is sad that you can't get over a game that happened five years ago.

    Timpview doesn't encourage students to go to their school to play football and it isn't their job to discourage football players from going to Timpview. Your claim is baseless and you don't have a shred of evidence that anyone that has ever played for Timpview was encouraged by the coach to switch to Timpview. With open enrollment most schools in Utah have football players that live outside their boundaries. Timpview follows the same rules as everyone else and they are just under the microscope more than most other programs. If you had evidence that any player that played at Timpview this year was recruited by the coaching staff or that they intentionally broke any UHSAA rules then I wouldn't call you a whiner and you could call the championship tainted. Since you don't have any evidence you must just be whining. If Pine View ever wins a state championship, do you think it would be right for someone make baseless claims of a tainted championship?

    Nov. 20, 2012 6:09 p.m.

    The Timpviews of the state always call us whiners and to just get better but the difference is most teams and coaches just don't do the things that those teams do.

  • amanap Washington, ut
    Nov. 20, 2012 6:08 p.m.

    All are tainted that had players outside their boundaries that were encouraged to come play for whatever reason. If all those teams didn't have any of those players during their seasons then you are correct.... but I don't think that's the case.

    People can whine and cry about the fact that Timpview won, but they had every right to be there and their win is 100% legitimate. The 4A playoffs turned out to be between the two best teams, both of which got there through working harder the whole season than most, if not all, the other 4A teams. Neither was considered the top 4A team before the season started. None of their championships are tainted no matter how much losers wish they were.

    Timpview High School Football. Legitimate State Champions 1986, 1991, 1997, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2012. No asterisk needed.

    Childish people complain and claim cheating when they get beat. Real men and women work hard to improve themselves so they can win next time. At the end of last season Timpview worked hard to earn the win this year.

    Great job with all the championships* 2006*, 2007*, 2008*, 2009*, and now another championship in 2012*! Strange how good you can be with the art of attraction on your side...

    Congrats to the T-Birds on another Championship*!!!

    * They won in spite of losing their head coach and having distractions throughout the year from minor UHSAA mistakes similar to other teams. They accepted the harshest penalties to date for those mistakes after self reporting. In a year that many considered 4A more competitive than usual their path to #1 included no home games and what could be argued as the #2, #3, and #4 teams in 4A, including last years champion. They did that with a team where all the starters played for them last year, none were getting D1 looks, and only one had a D1 offer before the playoffs. When an underrated team with a very solid defense had them down by by 9 points in the first quarter they kept fighting to get a double overtime victory.

    amanap, Both MC and Timpview payed the consequences for their ineligible player mistakes. Neither one was trying to break the rules. Stop hating on these two great teams just because you are jealous that your team didn't make it to the final game.

    I originally thought that last week's game against East was really the state championship game, but Mt. Crest brought it last night. They would have beat East last night. It was very fitting to have these two teams meet in the finals this time and not the semis as had been the case 06-09. Last night's game could have easily gone either way. As said already, too bad there had to be a loser.

    MC #6 (Moroni Laulu-Pututau) is a stud, I'm glad he's headed to BYU. We can use some of that athleticism. I wish BYU would pursue Dax Raymond and some of the other tbirds a bit more.

    Great game Mountain Crest you gave it your all. To bad a team has to lose a game like that. You guys can hold your heads high. Congratulations to everyone on the team. What a game! Two great teams fighting to the end. I think I will remember this team better than some other MC teams that have won state. The effort put into this game was something to behold. Go Mountain Crest, you are the best.

    The comments about it being tainted make it even more exciting for these kids. They have felt like the whole world was against them this year. Comments like cheaters, crooked, tainted have only served to motivate this bunch of kids. Keep bringing the pathetic insults. These kids did their speaking on the field with yet another state championship. Hats off to MC for playing a great game. It was exciting to the last play. Two great teams clashing for the state champs.

    So Springville and Kearns, get your players working hard this summer then you can do your talking on the field instead of on message boards!

    Go Tbirds!

    That was a fun game to watch! hats off to both teams and coaches. The agony of defeat shown after the game was genuinely humbling. Truest forms of expressions on display. With that bring said, we should lay off judging these 17 year old boys who were very close to their former coach. Once again, great job teams!

    Re ucnid:

    First off, seeing as you are from Springville, I would expect the jealous comment. You should really get over the jealousy.

    Second, "tainted for you"...I don't think they care. But as I am not inside thier program, or know how the kids dealt with all the issues that hit them in the last year, the kids are to be commended. Remember, it was adults mistakes, not the innocent kids.

    Third, that was a great game that both teams need to be rewarded. MC, those kids are tough. But in the end, it was too much Jake Lloyd, good receiver play, and that Peta boy was a defensive beast. He literally pancaked the 280 lb offensive tackle, then superman leaped and sacked the QB. Best defensive power rush i have seen in a while. And BTW, Best offensive play I have seen was when TV got it on 4th down in OT when Lloyd was falling down and completed the TD. Sportscenter.

    Both teams are to be congratulated. That was an excited game to watch on TV- sorry there had to be a loser.

    Ah the bitter, jealous anti T-Bird fans still exist out there I see. No tainted victory here, the kids won it on the field with a tough road to the championship. Congrats to Coach Whit, Chad, Todd and the rest of the coaching staff. Best played and most exciting state championship game in recent memory. And the legacy of Coach Wong lives as well so congrats to him also.

    My apologies; when I posted at 11 p.m., Gurney had not written his story, so I carelessly criticized the writers for not including Solorzano's contribution to the Timpview win. Thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow. Thanks for your coverage of all the teams this year. DesNews is #1!

    The only thing that would've made this game better is if MC came out on top. Incredibly proud of these kids and these ooaches. Not one person can say MC didn't fight until the bitter end. No one can ay MC gave TV this game. The didn't by any means give up this game.
