How did education fare in this election? In California, voters choose higher taxes over cutting school budgets

California "temporarily raise income taxes for the wealthiest citizens and add a quarter of a cent sales tax for all."

I'm reminded of the Utah "Flood Tax" implemented in 1987 and removed in 1994, during which time we had no widespread floods. It was a "temporary emergency measure" as well.

I think California will find they will not make anywhere near the $500 million claimed, and the tax will be at a minimum long term rather than temporary. California, indeed most governments, are insatiable. There is always another, oh-so-worthy cause.
