"If anything is reverberating around the HC; its Larry v Earvin back in 1979."

One of the all-time great games in the Huntsman, to be sure, but meaningless as far as the Utes are concerned since Utah wasn't involved.

The cause is now at $4250. Come on cougar fans. A few more dollars for this wonderful plan to convince Brother Parker to be a cougar.

This campaign seems like a great idea and well worth the effort. It will be nice if BYU does Land Jabari but even if they dont its still good to see that Jabari considers BYU as part of his top 5.

As a B.Y.U. fan I would love to see Jabari play for B.Y.U. There is a 1 in 5 chance that it could happen. Yes, B.Y.U. is one of the top five because Jabari is LDS. But there is another reason. I know it is going to be hard for the "haters" of B.Y.U. to swallow, but B.Y.U. is also on that list because Dave Rose and Jimmer Fredette took B.Y.U. basketball to the next level. You can say that Jimmer was "over rated", but the voters didn't think so when Jimmer won almost every award. Even if Jabari doesn't select B.Y.U., it is an honor to see B.Y.U. mentioned in the same breath as Duke, Stanford, Michigan St. and Florida who all have great basketball programs.

He is coming to Provo -- Thanksgiving weekend. That's why we're getting the Tshirts, so we can convince him to make the trip permanent.

Do you chant "Parker, Parker" or "Ja Bar i, Ja Bar i". I'm voting for the Parker things as Jabari doesn't led itself to a chant.

Both Jabari and BYU would benefit from his playing in Provo. His experiences in Provo will bless his life long after an NBA career.

BYU would be nice, but I don't think that there will be as much angst as some commenters here might (secretly) hope for if he doesn't select BYU.

Funny how not a lot has changed at the U relative to some fans keeping a watchful eye on South campus since I attended there 30+ years ago.

Oh, and LValfre, yes, I will be a fan of Jabari wherever he goes. That ok with you?

too UU32, there's no mention of Jabari's name or even BYU's. People are donating for fans to wear Shirts. Nothing more, and nothing wrong w/ that.

I'm not an expert, but from my understanding this is not a recruiting violation because it is "fan-funded." BYU's athletic department, employees, interns, etc. are not associated with it.

Also, as far as boosters go, I believe that a booster certainly could fund T-shirts for everyone in the stadium. As long as they're not providing funds/benefits to a recruit, I don't think it would be a violation.

As a BYU/Utah fan from AZ it always cracks me up to see the Utes drool on their keyboards whenever something or someone big might be coming to BYU.
From what I've seen over the years, anything positive at either school often seems to trickle down and help the other school.
Though Utah's bball team has been in the basement for a while.
Reminds me of my poor Sun Devil bball team.

At the end of the day, life goes on and it's only a game.

Where will Jabari play ball next year? Who knows?. Pretty sure he doesn't know yet himself. Does it matter? Not much in the grand scheme of things. At this point he could play at Dixie State or the University of Idaho and still be a lottery pick for the NBA.

I do have to wonder about the mental/emotional stability of someone who would ridicule a player for making his career in Europe - or might make his career in Europe. Travis Hanson is a wealthy man who did a whole lot of charitable good in Europe. I'm sure Jimmer is a vastly better athlete than those who make fun of his NBA career. Putting someone down is a common way of dealing with an inferiority complex.

Cogent observation that BYU fans wouldn't make a big deal about this is Jabari were not LDS. What an amazing insight! Now I understand why there was no clamoring for LeBron to come to BYU! (irony alert in case you missed it, Chicago Boy). Those who hope that Jabari "breaks their hearts" are shouting out insecurity - Schadenfreude!

Whether he comes or not won't change things much.

I fail to see how this is within the NCAA guidelines. Perhaps Mr. Gurney could do some digging and enlighten us. Seems to be a hole in this story. People are donating funds to pay for advertising to persuade a recruit to sign at your school. Pretty straight forward violation isn't it? Brandon, it would be great if you could find out from the NCAA if this is really an approved method.

If so, this will completely change the nature of on campus visits going forward. You don't think that some booster at Alabama would front big bucks to put the whole stadium in shirts begging a kid to come to Tuscaloosa? Seems odd that this hasn't been killed already by BYU's compliance office.

Chris B are we feeling kinda sad today inasmuch as the Utes have only one 3 games in football and the mighty Ute basketball team is picked to finish dead last, yeh 12th place out of 12 teams.

Doubt it will happen, but this certainly would be the steal of the century for BYU.

LValfre: Or just maybe we're making a big deal out of it because he is one of the most sought-after and talented prep basketball recruit in the land.

No one forced him to put BYU on his Final 5 list. We're just gonna help him decide which school wants him the most.

    Go BYU!
    Go Parker!

    One word: JIMMERMANIA

Jimmer's 32 first half points and 40-foot half-time buzzer beater are still reverberating around the Huntsman Center.

If Jimmer never plays another game, the excitement he generated while playing for BYU will never be forgotten.

It is fun, however, to see the angst occuring on the hill because of the meer possibility of an even more talented player coming to BYU.

From a die hard Ute fan I've gotta say nice work by the group that came up with this idea and are acting upon it. It would be awfully tough to turn down a school that had a stadium full of students wearing a Tshirt begging you to join their team.
I honestly believe BYU has a legitimate shot of landing Parker. With the style of bball Rose implements, Parker could fill up a stat sheet and still go as high in the NBA draft as he'd have gone if he played at Duke or Kentucky. Well that might be stretching a little bit, but not much in my opinion, especially with how he'd stand out at BYU.
Here's one Ute fan that for some strange reason wants to see BYU land Parker. I'd really like to watch the kid up close and personal and would enjoy watching my Utes compete against him.
