The kids on the team are not at fault. The players that were ineligible were not integral to East's success this year. I am not saying East will win state, but if they weren't allowed to play in the tournament then whoever won the state title would deserve a an asterisk because they would not have had to play the best team 4A team in the state. UHSAA did right by letting the kids on the team go and try to earn something together.

Region 6 on a roll in first round, while region 7 is on the brink of Oh-no and 4!! No pressure Herriman! Might have to put the Dynasty label on hold for awhile....love it! High school football is the best!

I don't believe you have to be better than everybody else. I believe you have to be better than you ever thought you could be.

Not only could JD compete in that region

They would have won that region this year easily and could win it again next year if they were in it

The dude bigbenzo88 with the stats. Of course Herriman's stats would be that high due to the weak schedule you play in Region 7. Example: Olympus, Skyline, Westlake, Hillcrest, and Murray. Come on now! Even Juan Diego (3A) can compete in this region. East comes out and puts it to Herriman this saturday. EAST TAKE STATE!

All the people still bashing the UHSAA for letting east play will feel foolish to judge once disney makes this a movie and we all go home with that feel good feeling in our hearts. You MIGHT know some facts, but there is more to this than the transcript of the hearing. You'll just need a good director and actors to prove it.

If east biggest weakness is the pass isn't herrimans strength the run not the pass

What is funny to me is the lack of respect for Herriman. True...Herriman did lose to Riverton and Skyline. I will remind everyone that Riverton was a neutral site and Skyline was away...it happens sometimes. However, no mention of the East loss to Logan...other than to say...well the kids weren't into that game. Well I saw the film....East was deep into the game...East's just doesn't know how to defend the pass!!!

    Herriman Win%: 80
    East Win%: 88

    Region 7 vs Region 6: 3-2
    Region 6 vs Region 7: 2-3

    Herriman/Highland Score: 31-14
    East/Highland Score: 34-13

    Herriman/Clearfield Score: 50-7
    East/Clearfield Score: 47-0

    Herriman Home Wins: 4
East Away Wins: 5 (includes play-in game)

    Herriman Home Losses: 0
    East Away Losses: 1

    Herriman Points Scored Rank: 1st
    East Points Scored Rank: 2nd

    Herriman Points Against Rank: 14th
    East Points Against Rank: 7th

    Herriman 1,000 yd rushers: 2
    East 1,000 yd rushers: 1

Herriman is an 18 point underdog. Herriman will not get killed in the game and I believe they will actually win the game.

The only reason I said that about Cyprus was that they did not have a chance at the playoffs without East's forfeits. The others were already on a playoff play in game track. They were snubbed by the Timpview forfeits, Mtn View wasn't even suppose to be there at all. I am not taking anything away from them, they are much improved over last year. And I agree with you, they probably do play in one of the toughest regions with Highland, Bountiful and East and Woods Cross (This Year) One of those schools always seems to be playing or mixing it up for the title.

I understand why the board let East in. It did not seem fair to punish all the players. That being said, is it more fair to punish the team who broke the rules, or teams who did not? Either make east forfeit all of their games, or none of them. They can call East a four seed, but they are still probably the best team in 4A. I hope Herriman can pull out the win, because they are the ones getting the raw deal. I am curious why UtahBruin thinks Cyprus didn't deserve a shot. As far as I can see, they have better overall record than the other three teams fighting for a play in game, and are in what is the toughest region in 4A.

First, if you know sports you cant take wins away. A win is a win. You can't take out Herriman, that's who were talking about. And all the losses you talk about. All to playoff teams one a two seeds, and one four seed, except 3, two by the same team Murray who is probably the worst in the state.

Second, everyone knows that on any given day can any team win.

Third, "American Fork can beat anyone in Region 6, (ac)cept maybe Herriman". Herriman is not in Region 6, they're Region 7. I don't think American Fork could beat Skyline, Olympus, Herriman, Region 7, or East, Highland, W.Cross or Bountiful, Region 6.

Fourth, Bountiful never played anyone from Reg. 7, in fact Bountifuls opening win came against Lone Peak, YOUR Region 4 Champ. Does that mean they beat Bingham too since Lone Peak beat Bingham. "No" but your logic means they could. Bountiful barely made the playoffs according to you with a 7-3 record with the real loss to East. Hmmm!

Fifth, Win a 4 seed? I think rather you get a 4 seed when you go 6-4.

I have to agree with binghamalum. Riverton was the Region 4 #4 seed and beat Herrimann, how good can Herrimann really be. They lost to Skyline? Did I read that right, lost to Skyline? The nice thing is we'll be done hearing from the West Riverton folks after Saturday, we know they don't show up here after a loss.

    27-31 record
    (Take away Herrimans 8-2 recrod)
(take away 4 wins from each of Herriman, Skyline, and Olympus-ALL 4 being region wins)

    Skyline1-4, Olympus1-3, Hillcrest1-4, Westlake2-2, hillcrest2-3, murray1-4

American fork could beat anyone from REgion 6, cept maybe Herriman, Riverton won the #4 seed in region 4! THEY BEAT YOU!
Bountiful is #3 seed, barely made the playoffs! and you lost to them!

Herriman is OVERRATED! I have seen them play and they arent that great!
They are good for the players theyve been dealt with being a new school.

But people dont wanna hear how good Herriman, they want to see it.

Sorry lose to Skyline and Bountiful, and Riverton doesnt prove to me your ready for a 4A state title.
East is about to come into town and run it right at your boys.

Leading scoring team in state is Herriman!
You better hope your a better offense then Jordan, they put up 28 points, and still were losing. Jordan would beat Herriman 10 of 10 times.

!East is as big as the Bingham team 2 years ago who finished #4 in country.
    They just run more! ha

I feel bad for the other teams that deserved to be in this play-in game but got snubbed due to this fiasco. It sure should not have been Mtn View. When was the last time they had a playoff win? Or even a respectable season? I am a Mtn View supporter and try to attend a game or two every year - this drought is getting old.

The combined record is 27-31, with two of the worst teams in the state in Murray and Hillcrest, not to mention Westlake is not much to shake a stick at. Your Region 4 record is not all that impressive either at 33-27, so don't pop off to quick. Must have been tough playing American Fork and Lehi. Herriman is much better than you may give them credit for, yep they slipped against Riverton early in the season. Riverton is not a bad team and will give Alta again all they can handle. Riverton lost to Alta, Bingham, Lone Peak and Suracuse this year. All likely 5A Semi Final Teams despite the outcome in the 2nd Round between Alta and Syracuse. I would be willing to say that Saturdays Herriman East game will be closer than most think and that game will most likely produce the 4A Champ. Like I said before though, it is a shame that Herriman, East, Timpview, Logan, Maple Mountain and Woods Cross are all on the same side of the bracket. Overall combined real record of these teams, 49-11

I hope Herriman beats East, then all the East fans who say we don't know the facts can go away. But then we still have to deal with the way to early Logan Timpview matchup. It is just disappointing that this football playoff season is tainted by some board members. Playoffs is suppose to be exciting, fun and fair. Surprise teams can get rolling and pull an upset, it happens every year in the first and second rounds. Last year in the 4A, nobody expected Westlake to beat Mtn Crest at Mtn Crest and then give Timpview all they could handle at home before losing on a last second TD pass when they got smoked by T-View earlier in the season by 40 plus. In the 5A nobody expected Syracuse to beat Alta in the first round. Teams change in the playoffs and now we have to see what should be hopeful late round matchups way to early. A lot of times, teams who have to rise way up to early sets them up for a let down in weeks to come. It is the nature of sport.

Should be supppper fun game on Saturday at 5! Would love it if KJZZ would some how get out there and put that on TV!

It will be a very hard hitting intense game, that I can see EAST winning by 20 points, because I dont at all think Herriman is as good as HERRIMAN thinks they are.

They are a solid program and getting better, and hey won a share of the region title! even though it was a region whos combined records are 17-28 !

Good luck to both east and Herriman on saturday

    Oh and GO MINERS

The issue was never about East to me. The real issue was how the supposed punishment was handled. Had the USHAA left the tournament seeds alone, punished the adults, if they were really the only ones at fault there never would have been such an out cry.

Way to go Leopards. What a great tradition of winning football. Look at the 1956 season.. State Champs. EAST 7 OLYMPUS 0, East 23 Murray 0, East 14 West 0, East 29 Jordan 0,
East 6 South 0, East 7 Tooele 0, East 34 Carbon 0, East 34 Logan 6 (State Championship game, touchdown by Logan on a freak late run.
1st polynesian ever at East, Sonoma Liufau made a great contribution to the team.
Love all of you, GO FOR STATE!!!

On a side note. I wish these boys from East the best of luck. I hope that the administration and coaches take this opportunity to explain to these kids that hiding things does not benefit anyone. I still won't say East cheated, but they were aware of what they were hiding, that is public knowledge now. These young men have proven to be one of the best 4A Football teams in the state if not one of the best in the state overall. I am glad they have a chance to prove it. I just wish the UHSAA would have did the right thing. One, stand behind your initial decision. Or Two, don't let your decision affect so many others for the sake of one school. TO punish East with on the field play, they should have let Mtn. View, Salem Hills and S.Ville play a play in game by halfs and then let the winner then play East for a play in game, leave the bracket the way it was from the beginning, that would have been fair and Cyprus didn't deserve it anyway.

4 asterisks because that is how many wins they have on the season? I don't believe we are clear yet on exactly how many wins East has this year. The UHSAA hasn't made that clear yet. I think all we know for sure is that they have the Cyprus win and a Mountain View win. * * (2 asterisks)
