Maybe some--who know who they are--justify the millionaires' spending less, getting away with more, saying things that would be considered crude if the rest of us said them, are justifying that becuase they hope if they are lucky, excuse these often ill-mannered folks, vote for them and policies they would never endorse from the guy running for mayor or state senator, and do everything but bow to the fellow with "name recognition" and the Thurston Howell reputation, they might get to become one of them someday. And if they do, they will be known to behave the same way. Don't hold your breath though. As long as you keep voting against your best interests, it isn't going to happen.

    LDS Liberal said,

The 1% SHOULD be paying 80% of taxes on everything."

Lol. Rich people should share their money, that is true. But they often don't. Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, George Soros, etc., etc., the list goes on and on, have billions that they don't need. Yet, they still choose to hold on to that money. That's just the way it is. Someday, an equalizer of some kind, maybe Almighty God himself, will come down and make everything right. However, if you are waiting for the State to do it, you are in for an infinitely long wait. The US Government is totally corrupt and incompetent. While claiming to level the playing field, they usually just redistribute wealth and usually do so in a very unfair way (think AIG, GM and Solyndra). In the process, they usually scare the rich people who don't stand to gain from such scams, along with their wealth, overseas.

I love the idea of only paying for what I use... I wouldn't have to pay for other people's kids education! I'm not a senior so I don't have to pay for the senior centers, I don't use parks so POOF! get rid of those. I don't use the Coast Guard so let's forget about that too. Those with large vehicles that do more road damage should pay more than I and my Toyota. Hah! Even better instead of getting a tax break people with kids should actually have to pay extra.

Why the list could go on and on. And hopefully the ridiculousness becomes apparent.

    LDS lib,

If I had kids, I would teach them to pay for what they use, not simply only what they want to pay for.

Let's assume you make twice as much money as me LDS lib. Nex time you buy a car, how about I come along and I'll buy a car too. Except, even if we both buy $20,000 cars, you'll pay $30,000 and I'll only pay 10,000 because you should have to pay for some of what I use because you are more wealthy?

Please inform me when to meet you at the car lot.

Same thing for next time you go buy groceries. YOu have to pay for most of my bill since you make more money. I'll be waiting...

Article: "Legislation restricting all unemployment benefits for millionaires has passed both houses of Congress and await the President’s signature..." Why has he not signed it?

What part of simple maths gets lost in this?

BTW - for SHAME on the wealthy Millionaires getting free hand-outs!
Like Corporate Welfare and Corporate hand-outs.

    Chris B,

A government handout is a government handout, why do we try and justify millionaires taking government handouts? Why do we try to justify millionaires not paying taxes? My dad taught me an old saying that maybe you and the millionaire apologists should learn. "Right is right even if no one is doing it, wrong is wrong, even if everyone is doing it".

The entitlement mentality is equally wrong for millionaires (and I could argue more wrong) than it is for poor people. Right is right. Why do so many on this board come to the defense of some not all, some millionaires when what they are doing is indefensible? Wrong is wrong.

Nobody is saying every millionaire is a bad person, and I think it is time that the right quit saying that everyone that takes money from the government is a bad person. There are bad poor people, there are bad rich people. There are good poor people there are good rich people. How about we stop making all poor people bad and all millionaires good.

While obviously it would be nice if they didnt do this - the millionaries are the ones funding the plan to begin with. It is their money so I"m fine that they want to get their money back.

Why don't we all just pay for what we USE?

When I drive on the road it is does 5 cents of damage.

When Mitt drives on the road he doesn't do $5,000 in damage just because he is much richer than me.

I should pay for my 5 cent damage and Mitt should pay his 5 cent damage

Millionaries are already doing more than their share - while 47% of the country is NOT doing their share.

    Truth hurts sometimes.
