It's more likely the price to smoke than the national ad campaigns. Now if
we could only sue the big booze makers and use those funds in nationwide
campaigns to stop drinking (and driving). We could solve that problem too by
increasing the tax on these items 100%. And making a 1st offense a 2 year
probation. And a 2nd offense life without a drivers license. Other countries do

I drive a UTA bus. I watch people smoke right until time to board the bus.
Then they throw their butts on the ground. Many blatantly ignore no somoking
signs at bus stops and smoke their anyway. Some board the bus with unlit
cigarettes in their mouth. I have never understood smoking or why it appeals to
anybody. I wish the government would buy the tobacco farmers out. The land
could be better utilized to grow grains or other nutritious foods. The tobacco

There are two other reasons for the smoking decline, but oddly neither are
listed in this story. The first is the ever increasing price per pack, and the
second being the numerous laws that make smoking illegal in just about any
location except your house or your car.How are these two reasons

I'm 40 yrs old and I've known my entire life that smoking is bad for
you. If hamburgers increased in price at the same levels as tobacco
products, we'd probably be paying $40 for a double double at In 'n
Out. Would the reason be cited as eaters avoiding high cholesterol?
Jack the price of cigarettes up to $12.50 per pack (like in NYC) and that will
do wonders for that 88% who wish they could quit.
