    Thank you for the article and contact information. I will find out if any of these organizations can allocate specific funds for the restoration of the cross to the Mountain Meadows cairn, which was first torn down in 1859 by a SLC entourage, at their first visit to the site. (See Juanita Brooks', "Mountain Meadows Massacre".) This would be an excellent charitable mission, as the Church helped protect the graves and the cairn (from the 1990's) through Pres. Hinkley's support.

    The Fancher and Baker families have not been able to get that replaced, after it was erected by Army Maj. Carrollton, upon his men's initial visit to the site, finding no bodies or graves. It wouldn't be expensive, and the Church has a vested interest in this.
