    7 fumbles Jenny

What's your poor excuse for Colorado?

One of the reasons that BYU is clearly a legacy program, nationally recognized, etc. is its overall accomplishments, something you obviously omitted in your personal chest thumping ritual.

I won't mention the personal awards that BYU players have accumulated over the years but we know which school has the longer list.

Last 50 years of modern football (non-leather helmet days)

BYU 26 conference championships... Utes single digits
BYU 10+ win seasons... double digits... Utes, 6 including since 1896
BYU an NC... Utes never in 115 years nor in the seeable future

Sammy G...what's your excuse for getting beat by Utah 54-10?!

So what has all that money done for Washington, Oregon St., Colorado, Washington St. California and UCLA they have had the money a lot longer but have not had the success that you are planning on? Except for the occasional good years for some of the teams they are all bottom dwellers you have your USC, Stanford and Oregon that dominate
Coaching has a lot to do with it but not everything.
I also remember when you all up on the hill were not very happy with Whit but now he is invincible and can do no wrong. This changes look at Urban down in Florida when he was up on the hill he could do no wrong either so nobody knows how things are going to turn out.
I am sure that back in the early 70s no one expected BYU to go on a 19 and 2 run things change and go in cycles.

Star is a NFL star in the making, can't wait for the season! Go UTES!

@bubba: "Utah has the upper hand now but who’s to say it won’t swing back to BYU"

Utah has the better coaching, talent, and conference ($30 million annually in a few years. So unless that changes I can only see BYU winning miracle games over Utah.

    Ok KH
Now go back and see how many of the pre 1970 games were road games for BYU if I remember right it was almost 5 to 1 but I do have CRS disease so I may be off a little.
I also have not said that Utah has not been the better team as of late but I have said that it swings back and forth Utah has the upper hand now but who’s to say it won’t swing back to BYU other than you, navel vet, Utah-Hawaii Alum, chris b I can go on but I am sure you get my point

    I'll answer your question.

Whit vs. Bronco is in Whit's favor: 4 games to 3
    Last 10 years: Utah 7 byu 3
    Last 20 years: Utah 12 byu 8
Last 30 years: Utah 13 byu 17 (byu was clearly better that decade, Utah has clearly been the better team this decade, they were even in the middle decade)

Now why stop at 30 years ago?
From 1896 to 1971 Utah dominated: Utah 41 wins, byu 8 wins, 4 ties
From 1972 to 1992 byu dominated: Utah 2 wins, byu 19 wins
From 1993 to 2011 Utah was better: Utah 12 wins, byu 7
Overall record: Utah 55 wins, byu 34 wins, 4 ties

Clearly Utah has the better program currently and overall. Of its entire history dating back to 1896, byu has only dominated Utah for 20 years. Utah has pretty much owned the rest of the history.

    @navel vet

Ok so under your terms Utah is great wonderful and cant do any wrong and BYU stink, but I am not buying it.
Yes I did watch the game in question.
Yes the best team won that game the best team also won your bowl game. Just like the best team won the Utah/BYU game but this in no way means that BYU cant win and be the best team that day. It always comes down to score board and you and your fluke-loss double talk is a joke because you are just as good at dishing it as anyone else.

You keep bring up the 7 of the last 10 but what are the records between Whit and Bronco?
What are the records say the last 20 years? Last 30 years?
Why is the last 10 so important to you?
Because that shows the best record for you to brag about.
You know it and I know it.
Also you have never answered if you hate BYU as much as you seem to and they are so irrelevant than why do you get so uppity about them?

"So under your terms Utah losing to the Buffs was a fluke for that day. But any time BYU loses it is because they don’t match up to anyone but the WAC teams."

Utah matches up well vs. BCS-level teams. Afterall, prior to joining the Pac-12, at 21-11, we were the winningest non-AQ team vs. AQ schools. The cougs...not so much. In fact, even with the an extra year in the mid-majors, you STILL hadn't reached Utah's 21-win plateau. AND you have an overall losing record to BCS-caliber teams.

The Utes hadn't faced CU in over 50-yrs, so all we have is just that one game. And if you had watched that game, it's clear that CU was the better prepared team that day. That doesn't mean Whit was UNprepared. It just means he wasn't AS prepared as Embree.

As for the Indy-WACers, we've beaten your team 7 of the last 10. Nevertheless, cougar fans always point to those individual 7 losses as flukes, so don't try that "fluke-loss" double talk with me.

    "until BYU becomes irreverent." -billybubba

I don't think byu will ever become irreverent. They are always very quiet and respectful during their church meetings. What does reverence have anything to do with football anyway?

    @navel vet

Wait a minute all I ever hear is that coach Whit is a great motivator and with the chance to go on to the pac championship game where was the preparation for this game.

Also you’re so called patch together a squad around a D-II caliber signal caller how can this be an excuse?
He had how many games under his belt or was he no good just for this one game.

So under your terms Utah losing to the Buffs was a fluke for that day. But any time BYU loses it is because they don’t match up to anyone but the WAC teams.

I don’t know but I do think this is a double standard. To quote my dear sweet grandma what is good for the goose.

Now for your other comment if BYU is so irrelevant then why do you waist so much of your time commenting on BYU articles. You never have anything good to say without sarcasm but you have all this free time to comment over and over again.

  • Naval Vet Philadelphia, PA
    May 17, 2012 3:07 p.m.

To what 'cut and paste' comments were you referring? I only posted ONE previous time on this article, and everything there was original. I wasn't even quoting anyone. Don't be so frantic and emotional.

And no, 4-5 and 6th-place isn't mid-majorey if it was done in the Pac-12. Mid-majorey is going out of your way to ensure your schedule is lined up with predominately other mid-majors. And since you're independent, you're free to schedule whomever you please...or at least that what your AD, coaches, and Indy-WACey fans have been boasting since you gave notice to the MWC. And then you turned around and scheduled every team in the WAC except Fresno St. and La. Tech.

You've claimed you could schedule whomever you please, and who pleased you most? The WAC. How mid-majorey.

As for CU, my "excuse" was already posted last November:

    (1) CU came more prepared, and was the better team that day.
    (2) Utah's starting QB was lost for the season. The Utes subsequently had to patch together a squad around a D-II caliber signal caller. Everybody knows that.

    Naval Vet

Are the 'cut and paste' keys on your keyboard about worn out?

4-5 and sixth place (really 8th) is about as mid-major as U can get, isn't it?

What's your official excuse about this and losing to Colorado?

  • Naval Vet Philadelphia, PA
    May 17, 2012 12:14 p.m.

The Indy-WACers have ALREADY been rendered irrelevant. Once they dropped their association with the MWC, started aggressively pursuing WAC-ish opponents, and affiliated themselves with the New Mexico and Armed Forces Bowls, they became nothing more than a spectacle for out-of-state cougar alumni and a percent of "other" LDS members to look forward to watching after the rest of the nation went to bed.

But hey, you STILL have your nanny code, your persecution complex, and your Idaho State Championship. What more can a Y fan ask for? Congratulations.

    Mid-majors forever.

I am a BYU fan and I would like to let you all know that your fans can not comment here because they are too busy commenting on the BYU articles so 7 to 10 comments is all you will get until BYU becomes irreverent.

Very excited to have Lotulelei back clogging up the middle and disrupting plays for another season. He's a great example of hard work and humility. I absolutlely loved his Morris Trophy acceptance speech.

    Go Star!

    @Mildred in Fillmore
Does it really matter the 2 best players as of now are from the pac 12. Star is a great player and has a lot going for him and Barkley is supposed to be the top QB in next years draft. So 2 great players lets play the season and go from there and if you do want to know the ND linebacker Manti Te’o is probable the best and then you would have to look at Van Noy but that’s just my thinking

If CBS is projecting the 2 best players in next year's NFL draft are both from the PAC 12, where is the top player from the Independant Conference listed?

I am so glad Star is coming back to play for the Utes this year. That guy is a beast. If he can stay healthy, watch out! Go Utes!!!
