    I'm glad this problem will likely be permanently solved 3 years from now. I also heard that mental illness, obesity, smoking, crime, global warming, and war would also likely end by 2015.

    Liberals in congress forced Reagan to liberate the mentally ill - and transfer billions of dollars to homeless "adocates." Liberal policies, liberal results.

    I take it you are not old enough o remember when reagan took this same position and turned thousands of mentally ill patients out onto the streets, these are many of the same people that became chronically homeless precisely because of reagan belief that the government should wash their hands of the problem and let the private sector deal with it.

    Homelessness will never be resolved until we get government OUT of the mental health problem.
    They have failed miserably since the Mental Health Act of 1963 promised so much and made a muddle of the entire structure.
    Along came the judges who only made it worse.
    We need clean and safe institutions and the laws to put people in them.
