What is the connection between Shurtleff and Wimmer,... oh yeah Rick Koerber.
Rick Koerber, Paul Mero, and Joe Cannon all would be proud. You will have to
google them to determine their connection to this endorsement, since the Deseret
News will not let me comments on the history that has been well documented in
the media over the past three years.
I like Wimmer, but there are better choices. And although AG Shurtleff started
off good, he has turned into a squishy RINO amnesty shill in recent years. His
endorsement is the kiss of death as far as I am concerned. Sorry, Carl,
that's just the way it is.Steve Sandstrom has proven
legislative experience and is a steady, reliable mainstream conservative and
would be an excellent Congressman.Mia Love is a newcomer, but has
proven to be a very effective Mayor, and is a rock solid conservative. I would
have liked her to have some legislative experiences, but if it was a two person
race between her and Wimmer, I would go with Mia Love. Yeah, some
people will add a bonus for Ms. Love's race and gender, but those are
totally irrelevant one way or the other. If she does not win a seat in
Congress, I think she would be an excellent canddiate for Lt. Governor, or even
Governor, or a seat in the Legislature. This lady is a rising star, and we need
more people like her to fill all sorts of jobs, not just Congress.
The fastest way for a Republican in this state to lose my vote is to tout an
endorsement by Mark Shurtleff. Combine this endorsement with Carl Wimmer's
constant flip-flopping on who he's supporting for president, and it's
easy to see why he (Wimmer) is a stereotypical politician that shouldn't be
trusted. If you're like me and want to see Jim Matheson replaced
with someone principled and honest, vote for Jay Cobb or Mia Love. If you want
politics as usual, vote for Wimmer. If you believe in war for oil, vote for
Well, the fact Shurtleff endorsed Wimmer is enough for me not to vote for the
man. Anyone involved in Shurtleff's political deals is tainted by
corruption. I know that's harsh, but I've personally observed it.
This is a frightening story for two reasons: 1. Wimmer does not represent his
constituency. He represents his version of the Tea Party ideology (State Gun -
Give me a break!) 2. Our State's Attorney General thinks sending this guy
to Washington to represent the People of the Great State of Utah is a good
idea.Unfortunately, because we have no real Democratic party to fend
off these kinds of candidates, he'll probably win. Please Utahns
prove me wrong!
