This legislation is supposed to promote patriotism. We've all seen the effects of this so-called patriotism in the administration of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. Is that really the model we want to impose on our children?

One needs only to research the origins of the pledge to discover that its roots are nationalistic and socialistic. Does that ring a bell? Nationalism and socialism?

A pledge is something that should be given by someone freely. It should not forced. We are not supposed to be North Korea. We are supposed to be Utah. What happened?
