Unfortunately virtually all of us would be better off not knowing from
experience a lot about desserts. Fruit pies with little sugar added are
acceptable, but all the concoctions with lots of sugar in them really are not.
If they were only eaten on special occasions, I think they would be a great
treat, but looking at people in line at dessert bars at buffets, I doubt that is
reality. I am not diabetic, but I am restricted on sugar for other
reasons. I am very lucky to have this status because it does cut down on my
dessert consumption. We went to a buffet to celebrate my son's birthday
last week, and he and I did not visit the dessert bar at all. I still went home
happily stuffed (also not good!) anyway.If we all gave money to a
food bank instead of eating a dessert, the benefits would be both ways. Eat an
apple or pear instead; save money and health!
