It's illegal to wire tap and spy on Americans without a FISA Warrant unless you are the President.

So, if you want to spy on Americans without a FISA Warrant, you spy on foreigners who most likely will be talking with Trump associates.

Then you can honestly speak a half truth. We never spied on Trump or his associates. Because
we spied on the foreigners they talk to to back spy.

It's like telling your child, "I never spy on your and never would." I just spy on your friends to see what you're up to.

We are blessed to have President Trump - a man who works to make other's lives better.

    God bless President Trump.

The system of law and order along with checks and balances in our Constitutional and legal system were made for a reason. Draining the swamp was utilized by this President to win an election with dissatisfied voters. The President promised he would do things as he has done in his business. However, he didn't think of the processes that are built into those already established by our Founding Fathers. He is trying to bully his way into politics and now government by his proven tactics.

It must be hard for his Generals, retired and active duty along with the the experienced people in some positions to see the follies of his ways. He has surrounded himself with family and cronies. John Dean said it well about the lack of experience of the White House Counsel. Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward type journalists are still a protection for our Country.

@all dems libs and Trump haters

You all do the comparison game, Hillary did nothing wrong you say, only because director Comey decided not to prosecute her, why we dont know. Hillary lied before congress denied ever having a private email server, then Comey publically endicts her confirming the contrary. Hillary then sheepishly admits it and does not appologise for lying to the public. Benghazi was all on her, pay to play with Clinton foundation, corruption. That is why Trump won folks! Not because of Russian hacking of the DNC, or supposed collusion with trump aids with Russia.

You all demonise Trump because of the horrible things he said about women, yet he has never been convicted of sexual predatory assault that you all claim. Bill Clinton was impeached for that though, but you seem to be ok with that.

Then Michael Flynn is skewered before the public because someone in govt leaked illegal electronic surveillance data from listening to private conversations without his knowledge while in the Trump tower.

Yet Comey refuses to investigate the leak, but is happy to investigate supposed Russian Trump collusion.

Cant any of you see whats wrong with this picture?

We find out today that there were two investigations being done by the FBI as early as July. One about Hillary's email server, and the other about Trump and the Russian connections. Both were happening at the same time.

I find it treasonous that FBI Director Comey affected the outcome of our election by releasing that information ONLY about Clinton a few days before the election. Why didn't he do the same about Trump? That is the question I want answered. I think Comey acted outside of the FBI's own rules when he released something that would damage the Democrat but not the Republican????

And remember he announced that Hillary was NOT guilty of any criminal activity. None! Yet a few weeks later he says there in another investigation?

    This sound crummy and dishonest.

As someone who has voted GOP for 36 years, I am thoroughly shocked that any Republican would support Trump. He has done things 100x worse than Hillary, Obama and the others he has attacked. And he is so completely the opposite of Utah/LDS values. Support him at the peril of your party and if you want to be hypocritical. He is a dangerous, self-promoting, ignorant populist demagogue. Supporters are willing to disregard values and integrity for their greater purpose. Lies, dishonesty and arrogance are alright if the ends justify the means. These were the same people complaining about the past President's golf and travel budget when Trump has already exceeded that in 2 months compared to what Obama spent in a year.

The investigation must have been authorized by the Trump Justice Department. Clinton campaign contacts with the Russians pre-election should also be investigated. We all look forward to facts, not innuendo or accusations. This entire issue is a high stakes gamble for both the right and the left.

and Jason Chaffetz runs 6 investigations.

But looks into a Bryce Canyon National Park tweet,
    a burning man Ranger,

    Trump IS being investigated,
Trump IS shown to be a liar,
Jason Chaffetz still sees no need for an investigation.

You may be right that most of Trump's current defenders will turn on him. But, a lot of them (especially in the Rust Belt) were Obama voters, twice. Most of Trump's most energetic supporters felt that they were had by Obama. To them, Trump's tweets and what Trump says matters not at all, as long as Trump does what they feel they elected him to do. They feel Trump is just playing the political game that Democrats and Obama established a long time ago. So far, the vast majority of Trump diehards are not disappointed at all.

But, there is another 10% (plus or minus) of America that voted for Trump, that are not Trump diehards (but fairly conservative). So far, Democrats are not even bothering to create a new space for them to call home. But, by the same token, Trump and his people would be wise to not take this group for granted, because their true support for Trump is tepid, at best. A large number of this 10% voted for Freedom Caucus members, supported the Tea Party, and if they had lived in Utah, would have voted for Evan McMullin as a purely protest vote.

8 years Pres. Obama was in office and was NEVER investigated for impropriety.

50 days in office -- and Republican Donald Trump is already proven to be a pathological liar, a false accuser, and IS under FBI investigation for influence of a foreign entity...

Well proof is in the puddin, Trump makes things up as he goes. Proven fact he is not well versed in the game of politics. He opens his flapper too much and he's left with egg on his face.

Too bad I had higher hopes for him.

But I'd still like to hear of any evidence of the collusion with Trump aides with Russia regarding the election. Beyond the obvious leaks after hacking the DNC and exposing the corruption of the Hillary campaign what else has Russia done other than doing America a favor of further exposing Hillary for what she is.

There is no evidence of voter machine tampering, or voter application fraud. Beside that what has Russia done that the U.S. doesnt do to others? Obama sent his best man to run interference in Israel to try and defeat Netanyahu in his election.

The CIA helped topple the former pro-Russian Ukrainian govt under Obama Then U.S. then sends two agents to take control of Ukrains largest energy/oil firm Burisma, those agents are none other than Hunter Biden, son of former VP Joe Biden, and John Kerry stepson Chris Heinz

So our govt can meddle in other countries affairs, but they sure dont like it when someone else returns the favor, funny stuff.

It is sad beyond belief that the nation's attention is turned to the bizarre claims of the new President.

It is sad beyond belief that the FBI is investigating the possibility that members of the Trump administration and/or campaign were in some way involved with the Russian government to influence the election for the new President.

We don't know yet where the facts will lead. However, the fact is that the entire US intelligence community has decided that it is beyond a doubt that the Russians influenced our 2016 election. That this influence was to aid candidate Trump. And that there are rather disturbing coincidences between the Trump campaign and administration based on these efforts.

At a minimum, the President has a tin ear to appearances. At a maximum, he allowed/encouraged/abetted Russian interference. The truth likely lands somewhere in between. However, all of the possibilities should disturb us all. And render this Presidency forever tarnished.

    Sad for the nation.

  • Jim Chee Ka'anapali, HI

    Time for another tweet storm.

FBI director James Comey not only verified that the FBI is investigation the connection between Russia and the Trump campaign, but also said that the so-called wire-tap accusations by Donald Trump lacked any evidence. What a revelation, although we knew this all the time. Trump has been censured by both the House and Senate intelligence committees, but now the FBI and, by extension, the Justice Department.

Where do we go from here. Trump is now at the worst approval ratings in early presidential history at 37%. Now, certainly, the Trump devotees and "true believers" will dispute these findings as they do with anything "Trump", but reality is not their forte. They want to believe, and nothing will dissuade them their faith in the man. It's strange, but polls put this number at 21% of the electorate.

Now Trump is doing the exact opposite from what he promised rural, white voters who brought him to office. He's shafting them on healthcare, wants to give huge tax cuts to the rich and privileged, and is trying to shut down programs that benefit his supporters to curry favor with Wall Street and corporations,

  • Bob67 Glenn Dale, MD
    March 20, 2017 10:37 a.m.

Rogers and Comey both came across as prepared, competent professionals. Republican member questions and Democratic member questions differed; the Republicans explored leaks and the Democrats explored Russian contacts. Both the NSA's Rogers and the FBI's Comey agreed that the intelligence trust between the US and Great Britain, and the US and Germany was deep and could withstand President Trump's tweets. Most of the detailed questions of Comey were met with no comment. Rogers was able to explain the FISA court process.

The investigations are in good hands. When they will finish is unknowable, but Comey said that the FBI investigation began in July, and by counter-intelligence standards it is still early.

What do you think will happen when Fox News reports that a N. Korea nuclear attack is imminent?
Trump himself blamed his latest libelous tweet on the folks at Fox network. He's just so courageous.

Trump's likely tweet: Just heard N. Korea is about to nuke us. Bad! Horrible! I just launched a full counter-strike. Bye Commies!

What will you think then? You may think it's far-fetched....

  • Vermonter Plymouth, MI
    March 20, 2017 9:50 a.m.

Trump's defenders will naturally defend him to the end. The anti-Trump people have already declared him guilty of rigging the election. (As an aside, we already had a excellent example of how to rig elections during the Democratic primaries last year.)

I'll leave this one with Comey to do his work, as we all should. As long as the investigation is ethical and proceeds according to law, then the process and the results of the investigation should be respected.

Trump will simply ignore the investigation while it is proceeding (as I suppose any president would and should do).

If Congress generally wants to allow government to grind to a halt, I have no qualms with this. When the nation is as polarized as we are now, I think this is as the Founders of the nation intended. Gridlock means nothing gets done. But, it also means bad people in positions of power cannot do bad things.
