Actually there has been no legitimate excuse, unless you accept that the GOP is a bunch of childish gangsters more concerned with party than the nation.

    Oink, oink, oink.
Shame on the Republicans for spending so much.
Shame on the Democrats for demanding even more.

But, even more shameful is the fact that Congress has utterly failed, once again, to pass budget and appropriations bills on time, prior to the start of the fiscal year, and has used the "continuing resolution" scheme to avoid making hard choices.

Next year there can be absolutely no excuse for a Republican controlled Congress not getting their work done on time. Cut out the 3 day work weeks and extended vacations (euphemistically called "district work sessions") which certainly contribute to such shameful performance.

This is a great opportunity for our most senior and experienced Senator who tells us he is indispensable to prove he can get something done and force the Senate to pass budgets and appropriations on time. If not done on time he should resign by October 1st instead of telling us how we cannot make progress without him.

10 billion dollars to fight unwinnable wars - what a joke. Yeah - let's "reform" Social Security and Medicare so that the GOP can send other peoples' children to be maimed and killed in their wars.

Do I smell a nice contact for someone special? It must be a good deal because it sure it sure overtook the smell coming from the hog barn.
