Well GaryO, that's certainly the narrative that Robby Mook, the Clinton Campaign Manager, has been peddling all day. If believing it makes you feel better about supporting Hillary, who am I to talk you out of it.

But if I were a democrat, I would feel used and manipulated. After all the Russians certainly didn't write those emails. Doesn't it bother you that you really never had a choice in your nominee? The democrat elites picked Hillary, put all of you through a sham primary to make you feel like you had a choice, and now its coronation week.

Honestly this is almost like when Saddam Hussein held elections and won overwhelmingly every time. Everyone knew it was a farce and there was no other possible outcome. Democrats have been played for the same fools as those poor Iraqis. Are you cool with that?

Hung our heads and gave up on being democrats? It wasn't pretty on the democrat side today. But nothing is going to make us 'come over to the dark side' of republicanism. Not after that horrible mess of a trump coronation, with it's lack of leadership, anger, fear and darkness.

    @Thid.

    You're conflating two things.

First, was there wrong doing? Legal wrongdoing? Ethical wrongdoing that did not violate laws?

The bit of analysis I've seen is unsure - it seems like DWS and the DNC preferred Clinton - which makes some sense, Clinton is a longtime Democratic member and politician, Sanders is an ally. But there does not - at this point - seem to be actual violation of law. (Ethics is another discussion.)

The second question is much different. Who released the emails? A Sanders ally? A Clinton hater? A Russion "hacker"? An agent or agency of the Russian government? Whoever released it had a reason - to harm the Clinton campaign. (Again, this is separate from the legality and ethics of the email content.)

Some analysts say that the electronic source codes on the release indicate it come from servers used in Russian attacks on various defense systems.

If true, it raises questions as to the motives and goals of the hackers. Again, the motive to release apparently damaging information that would aid Trump is totally separate from the content of what was released.

If there was no wrong doing, it wouldn't matter that the Russians got a hold of the e-mails.

Sad that many folks have low expectations for political leadership, and would make excuses for corrupt leadership.

Lets blame Bush, Trump, and the Republicans. Right wing conspiracy?

    Liberal rubbish!

@ Ginger Marshall: Ok, I get it now! Its the Russians' fault the Democratic party is so corrupted? I thought it was GWB's fault! Dang! Didn't Mitt Romney warn us that the Russians were our biggest geo-political enemy and the Demos went ballistic? Now, the Dems are saying Mitt was right??? Do you hear laughter? Not from the GOP but from the rest of the world? Democrats are making fools of themselves on the world stage!

The elephant in the room is the financial ties between Trump and the Russian banks and Russian Oligarchs. As early as 2008 one of the Trump kids was bragging at a real estate seminar about the amount of Russian money invested in Trump projects around the world.

Trump stumbling around, mired in his usual law suits does not help the wealthy Russians. Trump as president, however, is a very different picture.

DWS needed to go. She resigned and Clinton offered her an "honorary" position as a soft landing. The emails show partisanship but there is no actual claim of wrong-doing or illegal acts. Sort of like the RNC and Trump. Nobody wanted him, they got him anyway. Sanders is not and has never been one of the Democratic Party insiders or loyalists. He ran D because his fans overlap with the D base, not because he has been a D for decades.

The real story... Was it the same Russian agencies that hacked the Joint Chiefs? If so, why?

    Follow the money.

    Hey Thid Barker -

"Today millions of Americans hung their heads in shame and stopped being Democrats!"

Really? I don't know of any that have, and I probably know more Democrats than you do.

    Name just ONE.

Besides, what do Dems have to be ashamed of?

My Party has not aligned itself on the side of our "greatest geopolitical foe" AGAINST America.

"[Russia] is without question our No. 1 geopolitical foe. They fight for every cause for the world's worst actors."

The Democratic Party is NOT one of the "world's worst actors" supported by Putin and the Russian Government.

The OTHER major political Party in America enjoys that distinction.

But I don't expect Trumpians to be ashamed of themselves.

One must have integrity and a sense of right and wrong to feel shame.

putin and trump are two peas out of the same pod.

putin can't wait to destroy Americans enabled by the cowardly re-Publican traitors who love putin.

    The Democrats dumped "wasserman-schultz"...

When will the re-Publicans do the right thing and dump trump?

    Never?

    Exactly.

    Hey Harrison Bergeron -

"A single Russian hacker is conflated to be the entire Russian government acting to influence the outcome of the election . . . "

Who said it was a "single Russian hacker," and why would any sensible person even assume that? After all, Russia's government is infamously known to have an extensive international hacking program.

Besides, Putin and Trump are quite cozy with each other. The two plutocrats have expressed their mutual admiration . . . And then there is the FACT that Trump has THREATENED our NATO allies.

And guess why NATO was formed in the first place. NATO was formed to protect us all from RUSSIAN aggression.

Why would the Russian government NOT see it in their best interest to support Trump and his Republicans against Clinton and patriotic Democrats? Trump, with all his tough talk, stands for a weak NATO and a America and a comparatively strong Russia. That's why the Russians want to make him our President.

Face it Harrison, a vote for Republicans is a vote AGAINST America.

THAT is why Russia, our enemy, is doing its best to influence the election in favor of Republicans.

"A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the FBI will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace,"

This is just too rich. Did "Russia" write those emails? Did "Russia" defraud every Democrat in America by "rigging" the primaries? Did "Russia" send Bill Clinton to talk to the U.S Attorney General in an airplane parked at an Arizona airport to NOT indict Hillary for lying when the FBI had overwhelming evidence, which it revealed to America showing when she lied and how often she lied? Was "Russia" reposonsible for Hillary hiring DWS immediately after DWS was shown to have defrauded America's voters in the Democrat's primaries?

Isn't it obvious to even the most naive that the Democrats destroyed themselves by crowning Hillary President before any election had taken place?

    Utahbluedevil--

Obama tells Medvedev he would have more flexibility after his election...for what? Presumably to negotiate missiles.

Why would Obama wait until after the election? Was it like "you can keep your insurance plan, you can keep your doctor, and the average household will save $2500/month" type of message? In other words, something that Americans would not like if they knew the truth?

Shortly after the election Russia annexes parts of Ukraine--was that part of Obama's "flexibility"?

So now Russia hacks into the DNC and Trump is in on the job, right? That's would some Dems are saying.

Or, was the hack job facilitated by Hillary's "flexibility" using non-secure servers and Blackberry devices? Democrats are sure "flexible" with America's security these days.

  • Harrison Bergeron Holladay , UT

This is funny. A single Russian hacker is conflated to be the entire Russian government acting to influence the outcome of the election, because Russians would rather have Trump in office than Hillary.

Why? Because they are tired of using Hillary as a doormat? They are bored with her and Obama letting them invade Crimea and shoot down passenger airlines with no repercussions?

Or, maybe they are feeling remorse about using the Clinton foundation to buy favors like State Department approval of the Russian government buying 20% of U.S. uranium assets?

    So --
Bernie Sanders was RIGHT after all.
There WAS an agenda by the DNC to keep him out of the running.

    As a Bernie Sanders supporter,
    I'm really hurt by this,
and really struggling a tough sell for Clinton now.

    BUT --
To also discover that it was the Russians attempt to promote Donald TRUMP makes it even worse...

I still may not vote for Hillary Clinton,
but my case against that small fingered vulgarian traitor just kicked into hyper-gear...

David.... working with someone doesn't mean you are doing anything nefarious. Have you never been in business negotiations? Good grief..... talk about grasping as straws......

That said..... I am so glad Debbie Wasserman Schultz is gone. She not only needs to be no longer the chairperson, but also out of office. She is decisive at best, and irritating almost always. She is part of the partisan problem we have.....leadership by snakiness.

I can hardly wait until the 2020 elections when hopefully this election cycle nightmare will be done...

Wasserman is corrupt and a liar. What came out in the leak was already known by all and it only validates what intelligent people suspected. In the next few days, the FBI will validate the Russian connection and security analyst will give us a proper explanation on how and why they did what they did. But it's fairly obvious to intelligent, non partisan observers.
In the mean time, watch Sanders and the majority of supporters jump on Hillary's bandwagon because the alternative is way to unpalatable for their liking.

Democrats are claiming Russia favors Trump?

And yet Obama told Medvedev that after his 2012 election he would have more freedom to work with Russia and Putin.

    What did that mean?

Who really is in the pocket of Putin?

Look at the hysterical Hillary Supporters frantically trying to blame this all on Trump. Meanwhile, the part of the party they stabbed in the back is out there chanting "Lock her up!" It's not Trump supporters or Republicans chanting this, folks. You cannot blame Republicans for the DNC openly conspiring to help Hillary.

As for the Russian angle.... just think: we all know that Russia has read Hillary's emails. They have them. Think of the blackmail opportunities there are for Russia to blackmail President Hillary.

And yet, they are allegedly trying to elect Trump--despite Hillary selling them half of the Uranium in the US and shutting down the big oil pipeline. What do the Russians know about Hillary that they are trying to sabotage her like this? Because Hillary has already done more for the Russians than anyone has accused Trump of maybe doing. In short, the pro-Russian candidate is Hillary, hands down. And yet, they are trying to take her out? Square that one, leftists.

"How the emails were stolen hasn't been confirmed, but the Clinton campaign pointed the finger at Russian hackers." Shocking how the Russians hackers conveniently get to Clinton's emails now but never got to the much less secure home server in Billy's basement.
