    In business we categorize and account for things so we can make adjustments to maximize profit.

    Who is maximizing their profits by categorizing our children?

    Abraham Lincoln once said becuase I would not be a slave I would also not be a master. Its time the minorities renounced affirmative action and Political correctness by paraphrasing Lincoln. Because I would not wish to be discriminated against because of my color, race, ethnicity,gender etc.I would also not seek to profit unfairly by it as well. Whether that advantage is in law, employment, culture, social status, financial aid, etc. I don't care what the school make up is. show me by your actions individualy what your made of.Give me results in good grades,mutual respect, hard work,color blindness, etc. and don't tell me that poverty and inoppurtunity are to blame. I've been a teacher! some of the most well funded schools have the most dismall performance results. What affects students regardless of background the most is parental involvement,individual accountability, local teacher curriculum control not entrenched administration and governmental policies. Get the politicians and unions out of the schools and parents empower and back your teachers again while keeping a tight focus on the material being taught.

    "Race, gender, minority percentage makeup of Utah’s schools"
    ====================

    How wonderful it would be if we could someday, finally, fulfill the dream I share with Martin Luther King that people would be judged solely on the merits of their own, individual character character, rather than short sighted assumption based on their arbitrary inclusion within someone else's categorization scheme.

    To move us a bit farther in that direction I recommend we stop institutionalizing racism and completely abolish such data in our school systems and governmental agencies. Let each of us be a representative of the human race, without any of the irrelevant (we **do** believe that race should play no part in being educated, right?) racial sub-categorizations.
