Government says students can apply earlier for college aid

    All it says is that you can apply sooner. You still don't get the money until you start school. Mind you I know some people pay their tuition and use the rest as a living stipend which is a terrible idea.

    Not all of us were lucky enough to go to school when it was cheap or to have family pay for it. And keep in mind, if you got scholarships or grants, those were not only all or partly government money, but they are money that won't be paid back. Unlike student loans.

    I used grants loans as well as scholarships and I have more than paid back what I was given in taxes alone. I know several people who depended on that money to pay for college who are now high earning engineers. That's why these programs exist. To give opportunity to those with ambition but not means as a long term investment.

    Where did the government get the money for these college students?

    Sorry folks, but I, my wife, and all our children paid for college expenses without government benefits.

    It's possible, and part of the education.

    Handouts create dependency.

    Hope that their collage classes are signed up for and payed for before the money is all spent.
