If ending life, either by euthanasia or abortion, is a matter of personal choice, having/not having children should be even more so.

This one is starting to gain the reputation as the Waffling Pope.
He wants the traditional church AND the social justice version at the same time.
Mixed messages will weaken the Catholic Church.

Unless the big familes come from the love and care of adoptive parents giving a home to a very lucky group of children, big familes are not a true gift from God, especially for the woman involved. Pregnancy and childbirth are pretty much the most risky activities a woman can undertake. Gestating six or seven or eight or more pregnancies with the atttendant birthing process put a woman at a very real and significant risk of death or maiming. If a person really wants a big family, there are a LOT of children who need a good home -- give them that home and give the woman a break from the risk imposed on her by pregnancy and childbirth.
