It sickens me that the left is using global warming for their own political gain. Here's a statistic for you; 99% of all rhetoric coming from the UN and our government concerning Global Warming is purely political! Simply put these people seek to get gain from the deceptions and lies they continually promote. The only true result of global warming rhetoric is they are getting richer and are gaining more influence on our lives.

We as a people are so gullible. Recently, I remember news reports from our government asking us to look out our window and, 'Watch the news!'. We would watch fires burning in California, heavy rains in different areas of the world, and heat waves in other places. How could we not come to the conclusion that man was destroying the planet! They know exactly how persuasive an emotional response is.

The plain truth is no one knows for sure how the earth's climate works and what really influences it. We as humans aren't nearly as smart as we think we are. We base our knowledge, and call the science of global warming 'settled' based on man-made computer models. It's rather embarrassing...

California had one of their warmest winters on record while the Midwest had one of their coldest (not record coldest). Also, the US is a small fraction of the globe, and it's the globe that just set a 12-month record high in the NOAA dataset (Nov2013-Oct2014).

Sea ice does what you say; melting that reduces sea level. The land ice on Greenland and Antarctica is what scientists refer to with sea level rise because that's the equivalent of having an icecube in a funnel (representing land) that melts and runs off into the glass (ocean).

    Hottest year?

Liberals claim, global warming will cause the melting of icebergs, leading to coastal flooding.

    Try this.

Get an empty ice tray. Fill it with water, then place it in a freezer.

When the water freezes, notice how the ice cubes takes up more space. Water expands when frozen.

If the ice cube represent icebergs, the water level along the coastline will decrease as icebergs melt, because the iceberg is expanded water.

Hmm? Could our political leaders, Al Gore, and media, been telling us something which are not true?

Tests in the controlled atmosphere of commercial greenhouses verified that optimum plant growth was hit when aerosol plant food, CO2, hits 1,500 ppm. You can put all the water and mineral fertilizer on the plants they can stand. Plant growth is not limited by lack of sunshine, but by CO2 starvation. About 75% of all the sunshine hitting our farms and forests is wasted for lack of adequate CO2. Instead it goes to perspiration to cool the plant instead of photosynthesis to feed the plant and thereby feed the planet.

What I have not seen is any data regarding faster growing forests, increased green and cooler desert areas and more productive farms if CO2 concentrations are up 142%. Has anyone seen any data on this benefit to higher CO2 levels?

Junk science being manipulated by a self serving bunch of bureaucrats.

Climate changes, regardless of man made activities. Anyone remember the ice ages? Man was not producing huge amounts of CO2 pollution then, but the climate still got warmer.

When they report climate or weather changes without an agenda demanding money from U.S. taxpayers, or as an excuse to destroy capitalism, then we can listen.

Meanwhile, recycle your newspaper as bird cage liner, or fish wrapping to help preserve the environment. And, hold your breath so you don't pollute with your CO emissions!

To "Irony Guy" you do realize that we only have accurate sea ice measurements going back to 1979, that is 35 years ago. You might as well say that we are headed to an ice age because it is colder today than it was at the beginning of November.

Actually, long-term Arctic Sea ice is a quarter-million miles less than the last 30-year average. Shallow ocean temperatures are up .06c in the last 50 years.

Try looking at the long-term trends and you'll see that the climate is warming much faster than normal.

@ Vanceone. You nailed it! All you need to know about the irrelevance of this article is that the "information" is coming from the "UN weather agency". Enough said! All the UN wants is your money and as we all know, a fool and his money are soon parted!

What a bunch of tripe. This article leaves out all sorts of "inconvenient truths" to quote Al Gore. Such as the last two years of record cold in the US. Such as the stunning rebound of Arctic ice, which has grown something like 60% over the last couple of years.

And the whole 'The ocean ate the heat!" is simply a fantasy. The ocean hasn't warmed at all, and even if the ocean was eating the heat: great! The ocean can absorb all the global warming humanity has produced, allegedly, and it might... might! raise the temperature of the ocean by something like 0.1 degree Fahrenheit. The Ocean is a huge heat sink, so the more heat absorbed, the better.

In related news, a global warming group that gets paid by our tax dollars is living high on the hog, with $20,000 parties at lavish resorts. It's all a scam, folks, hype from a small group of so-called scientists who the left use as patsies.
