    Re Commodore

Thank you for saying I am spot on. It really galls me when some say we can't afford to keep our Social Security contract when many of these same people are pushing to get us into yet another ( multi trillion dollar) ground war in the Middle East.

Well, if most of the disgruntled anti-Love commentators to this article are right, then I'm definitely for her.

They all sound as though they are of the typical liberal mindset of racism, sexism, and every other "ism" they can use to segregate people into group-think zombies for purposes of political manipulation.

Vote for Love, and vote for **individual** Freedom!

We don't need yet another obstructionist Tea Party conservative in Congress who wants to destroy Affordable Care. My vote is for Doug Owen.

    @ CJB

You sir are spot on right!

    1. Mia wants to increase the age of retirement. Who does this hurt? The poor. Sure people are living longer, but most of those gains in life expectancy are being experienced in the middle and upper class. By raising the age of retirement for everyone you are kicking the poor in the face. That is bad form.

    2. Mia wants to cut seniors' benefits by 6-7%. We shouldn't target the weak, old, and infirm and expect more from them. They are already barely scraping by as it is. Should we cut benefits for people with assets over $1 million? You bet, but please don't hurt the poor.

    3. Mia wants to privatize social security. Holy cow. Social security is a guaranteed basic safety net. You don't punch a big hole in the safety net and expect it to act like a net still.

I think Mia Love's ideas hurt the poor, the old, and the infirm. Who in their right mind would want to vote for her? Please consider a candidate (like Owens) who will protect the poor and prosper us all.

To "Furry1993" if you are a main stream Republican, then I am Bill Gates.

To "Lew Elton Jeppson" you do realize that the government shutdown occured not because of anything Republicans did, but because Democrat Harry Reid wouldn't allow a vote on a budget that didn't include everything he wanted. I would rather have men in office like Lee and Chafetz that are willing to stand up for what they believe and not just do the politically expedient thing.

@ RC In WJ: Winners? That must be why Democrats in red states are panicking about Obama, Pelosi or Reid showing up to campaign for them. Who is laughing now? Not Mark Udall-Co, not Mary Landrieu- LA, not Mark Pryor_AR, not Tom Harkin-IA, not Carl Levin-MI, not Al Franken-MN, not Max Baucus-MT, not Kay Hagen- NC, and about a dozen other "winners"!

At a town hall meeting, Mia Love said when it comes to social security, she wants to “phase things out.” Her plan includes:

-- Increasing the age of retirement
    -- Cut seniors’ benefits by 6 – 7%
-- Privatize social security and gamble with people’s retirement in the stock market

Under Love’s approach, seniors would have lost 40% of their retirement savings in the 2008 market collapse. The stock market is a great gamble, over time it is a winner, but social security is meant to take the gamble out at least part of retirement. Not all seniors can afford the gamble.

Mia Love's plan on medicare includes:

Mia Love plan for reforming Medicaid is one of the most extreme proposals in congress. If enacted, her plan would:

-- Cause seniors to pay more than $6,400 more per year
-- Let insurance companies pick doctors rather than Utah’s seniors
-- Covert Medicare into a voucher program and force seniors to negotiate with insurance companies
-- Raise insurance costs on 285,000 Utah seniors and their families.

Want to see something that is absolutely frightening?

Google up the Tea Party website and explore some of its pages.

If that is what Mia Love supports, I want no part of it.

I like Mitt Romney, but simply because he endorsed Mia Love is not a sufficient reason to vote for her. I like to for FOR candidates, and not AGAINST them, but when Mia Love, as mayor of Saratoga Springs, failed to make any statement what so ever about the cop killing of a young man in her city, simply because he was carrying a samauri sword, shows a definite lack of leadership qualities under distressing circumstances. Sound bites like "I am for education" (as everyone else is) simply isn't appealing to me.

I find Mia Love's views and ideas far too extreme right wing, and we have also seen inconsistency in her statements. Doug Owens is a very reasonable, moderate candidate who seems more in tune with the needs our state and nation, and he also seems to be running a more honorable campaign. He has my enthusiastic support, and my vote.

Politics will forever remained "Dirty Business." No matter what side of the aisle politicians are from. It is about themselves and never about the country. Let us do away with political parties system.

    2. Keep flights coming from West Africa.
    3. Ebola for everyone

No, we need another lawyer who thinks that they have a hereditary right to sup at the public trough.

Well, on second thought, we have had quite enough career politicians and well connected political dynasties.

Over the past few years we've already seen where Love stands on issues. Generally, she stands wherever the Tea Party is standing. We don't need another elected official whose goal is to divide the people and divide the nation; whose stand is so "no compromise on anything" that it brings the country to a grinding halt and accomplishes nothing.

If I were voting in this one (I can't because I live in another District), the decision would be easy:

Doug Owens wins on the issues.

    Doug Owens wins on ethics.

    Doug Owens wins on integrity.

I am a mainstream Republican. That being said, I have seen nothing that would ever induce me to vote for Mia Love.
