Does the left have any critical thinking to contribute? OR just have only offer the typical leftist feel good shoot-the-messenger and opposition mentality?

I found all the "conservative thought here very strong in critical thinking.

So tell us how are Obama's energy policies are helping the poor and the middle class, by driving energy cost shy high, and destroying middle class jobs?

Our current president and most of the politicians in Washington are clueless about the burning of coal. Coal is crushed to a fine powder before it is burned. It is then washed to remove impurities, such as heavy metals and such. When burned, emissions are filtered. It's pollutants are not much more than burning natural gas.

With all of the issues facing the nation, including five plus years of unemployment above 7%, surely working to destroy more jobs would not really be beneficial.

The President makes CO2 sound like a pollutant. It's not -- it's harmless to people and animals, and is like fertilizer to plants. It's in your breath.

If the President were proposing to replace coal-fired power plants with nuclear plants (the only same-scale option), THAT would be truly progressive leadership. Instead, he is joining the knee-jerk, anti-energy, anti-industry crowd and only imposing penalties that will be passed on to every American. That is thoughtless and damaging -- but that's how this President rolls.

Actually coal power plants have very little impact on asthma. Vehicles are the single most significant contribution to the air pollution that can lead to more people/kids being at risk for developing asthma, and associated asthma attacks.

Why go after power plants when the real problem is being ignored.

I see the "Conservatives" have all weighed in with the nonsense they learned from that esteemed and distinguished climatologist and fount of confusion, Rush Limbaugh.

Who needs critical thinking? Who needs science and academics when you've got the foremost authority on everything telling you what's what?

Things are so simple in Right Wing Land.

does BO CARE how much it will harm the poor?

at least BO was honest about ONE thing - under his plan electricity costs will skyrocket.

This guy is a complete and total disaster. The Federal Register, where new regulations are published, has added more pages under his misadministration than any other administration in history. Talk about total disregard for the constitution and separation of powers!

I drive through Utah's 'coal country' quite often. I marvel at the UP, BNSF, and Utah RR trains pushing coal through Price and Spanish Fork Canyons and the generations of families that have provided the expertise and labor to provide cheap energy for our country.

And I think how it is that ONE individual can destroy the livelihood of 1000's, if not millions, of people in the United States and we don't do anything about it?

I have no use for liberal thinking like this.

When is this country going to wake up? I fear only a calamity will jolt this country into awareness of common sense.

Does Obama have any idea how much increasing energy costs will harm the poor?

The Obama environmental theorem has no basis of any known science or laws of physics or mathematical or valid realistic computer evidence that warrants this political threat to this nation to destroy oil and coal industry as environmentally responsible for any global or celestial pollution. Global warming is just a green oil spout funneling trillions of federal dollars to his pockets. He may be the richest man in the world by now with trillions in personal cash wealth he embezzled.

Obama has funneled trillions of dollars to dummy green energy corporation transferring all the trillions back to Obama in calculated and risky fraud schemes for personal wealth any dictator would envy. Is the left wing that stupid? I have to say yes. Don't be surprised if 2014 means the end of professional welfare dependents with caps and limits to entitlement benefits.

In 2011 Obama amassed trillion dollar campaign funds that no individual or corporation known has that kind of money in personal accounts or stock portfolios. Its suspicious if you think about it and why Obama is so adamant about his funneling trillions of dollars into coronations that pass through all funds to Obama PAC accounts.

Obama promised us cleaner air and that all these restrictions on traditional power sources would be good for us.

Well, he promised that if we liked our doctors we could keep them and that health care would drop $2,500, but that turned out to be a lie.

What he did not tell us about his power plant shutdown scheme is that it will dramatically increase the price everyone pays for electricity. And, that rationing and blackouts will become much more common with less generating capacity available. Of course, when those things happen, Obama, Hillary, Reid and Pelosi will all blame the evil Republicans, or the Koch brothers, or someone else.

Of course, all the elite environmentalists will demand that they continue to get power for their lights and air conditioning in their fancy houses.

Please, protect us from any more "help" from Obama and his cronies.

Reductions in carbon dioxide have nothing to do with asthma... at best, its a red herring; at worst, its dishonest.

Yeah! Let's incorporate more government rules that will drive up costs, decrease our income and destroy our country. Way to go Barry!

This guy is going to destroy this country. Making the absurd claim that recent hurricanes could have been avoided if we just stopped buring coal. This is not only absurd and stupid but it is dangerous to this county. If you go to Page Arizona next to the Glen Canyon Dam you see a HUGE coal fired power plant. This power plant produces 3 times the electricty than the turbo powered dam does. So what do we do - shut down the power plant and then what - watch Las Vegas and LA go dark? This sort of insane extremism about global warming and the sky is falling and we need to drive cars powered by alge and so on is what the looney left lives for. Again this is more reason why the GOP MUST win the Senate in November so that the entire congress can combine to stop this insantiy.
