As a 6th generation Mormon and DUP member, (Daughter of the Utah Pioneers), I am interested in preserving my heritage. I love visiting the museums and historical sites, and I appreciate the extensive time and monies spent on their preservation. My grandmother (1899-1995) enthralled us with many stories of sacrifice and bravery.

She and my grandfather had eleven children and a very adventurous life. They also instilled the values of honesty and integrity in their large family. They openly spoke of the ups and downs of polygamy, the frontier life and the not-so-pretty aspects of our heritage.

Because of their honesty and eye witness accounts of the full spectrum of the settler days, they would have also encouraged the same amount of passion and detail be applied to the preservation of the site and graves at Mountain Meadows.

I look forward to a story on those efforts in the future.
