Much of the rest of the western world has thrown off the "British occupation", including the United States of America.

It seems about time that the international community supported the Irish Republic in their "War of Independence" to throw off the British occupation on the Emerald Isle.

"a four-decade conflict that claimed 3,700 lives" Who is writing history these days? The conflict goes back to when the Dutch-born Protestant King of England, Ireland and Scotland William of Orange, defeated the army of Catholic James II at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690. A sectarian conflict lasting three centuries. The Irish Revolution continued the violence when the southern counties took their leave of the British Crown.

In 2013, new skirmishes have erupted with attacks on police. What does it mean? They have not resolved the continued problem, but have sugar coated it with a lot of hype.
