I'm glad the IRS is targeting conservative groups... why... because I'm a moderate and they've targeted me for years! I glad to 'share the fun' with others!

Unfortunately, for the Utah GOP, the Eagle Forum and Tea-Party factions of the party are very equivalent and have similar beliefs, it appears.

They have gotten their foothold in the Governor's office, Attorney General and especially the legislative districts and Senate seats and leadership positions.

The Utah GOP has been a party that had integrity and honesty as part of their platform. The Democrats in Utah have had similar policies on integrity and honor over the years, also, and have been an important part of the state's balance in political affairs.

However, the factions of the Utah GOP have become influential and affluent and have overridden the integrity and honesty of the party. This past weekend, the GOP convention delegates passed a resolution on Common Core that the resolution committee determined was unfavorable based entirely that the resolution contained inaccurate or misleading data that was inflammatory in nature.

The Tea-Party and Forum efforts convinced 65% of delegates to vote against the State Utah Common Core. Many, many delegates wore their rotten to the core badges of honor and voted that way. Representative Rob Bishop supported the Tea-Party and Forum push against Utah's Common Core. Integrity?

"Give us back our country" requires that I, and presumably all liberals, not be part of the us or the our (otherwise the sentence doesn't make sense). My phrase "it's not your country it's our country" is not automatically exclusive and allows for the inclusion of everyone in the our. Basically, I was implying "it's not ONLY your country".

The truth is that the laws regarding 501c4 status require the group to be participating in social justice exclusively (this has been interpreted to mean primarily for some reason). Political action committies including the liberal Priorities USA and Organizing For America should also face that kind of scrutiny the tea party groups face and personally the law should require that almost none of these groups get tax exempt status (there's probably a quirky exception or two on either side that makes political action a small aspect of the group). It's no surprise that it's not enforced though since, after all, that is quite literally the big money interest groups politically.

To all of you out there who obviously get your news exclusively from MSNBC, the T-Party accomplished quite a bit. Namely they took the Speakers gavel out of the hands of Nancy Pelosi. I'm sorry if that is news to a lot of you, but it happened way back in 2010. To add gasoline to that, it was "Wait for it" "Wait for it", none other than Sarah Palin who was one of the primary T-Party leaders that helped the Republicans win a lot of those previously Democrat seats in the House. Hopefully most of you fell on a carpeted floor with that news, and didn't get hurt too much.

    Re: atl134

You said in response to BYU Alums "give us back our country" Quote from you, "It's not your country it's our country". Really? Tough weekend?

And all of you should review "the truth" above as he/she know what thay are talking about regarding tax free status and the types of questions asked of those groups by IRS officials.

    Have a great week everyone!

You clearly do not understand tax exempt status is.

There is no requirement to pay taxes to exercise your 1st amendment rights.

All non profits are allowed to speak politically.

All citizens individually and as a group area allowed speak out politically.

If you did you research you would find the egregious demands, the shocking questions they had to answer put these groups in the application process.

And fact there has been a coordinated effort across the country for over several years, shows this no little thing, but runs high up.

Your hatred aside for these groups, this is tyrannical governing.

You can see how easy it would be to take ANY right away from an unarmed citizenry.

I consider Obamacare a good thing, F&F to be a sign we need stricter anti-gun trafficking laws, the real IRS scandal is the fact that ANY of these groups on the right or left even have tax exempt status since that tax exempt status is supposed to be for actual charitable groups, the AP thing is likely completely legal (I'm not a fan of this being so) thanks to things like the Patriot Act, and Benghazi isn't even a scandal.

    "Give us back our country."

It's not your country it's our country.

alt134, "I want more Democratic retained senate seats." Can you even be serious? What a ridiculous statement! With all the problems and scandals involving the Democratic Progressives party with its big government and the lies and deceit, i.e. Obamacare, Fast & Furious, Benghazi, IRS, & AP scandal to name just a few, please, people, vote these Democrat-Progressives out of office. Give us back our country. Return to the founding principles and the Constitution of the United States of America!

    God bless America!

Wouldn't the Tea Party be better served by actually accomplishing something? They were supposed to take Washington by storm, do things differently, downsize government. Instead, poster boys like Jason Chaffetz have been taken in by the allure of getting a sound byte on Fox News.
Has he and the rest of the Tea Party accomplished anything substantial? No.

They should have been at least looked at. They're not a "social welfare" group -- they're a political action committee. As such, they should not have tax free status and should have to dsiclose their contributors.
