What is new with the President who doesn't govern and just adds more unfunded mandates to the lists of agenda items. He doesn't have to fulfill his constitutional mandates but can gin up more and more requirements and agencies and monitoring and laws than even the most active liberal can govern.

He is met Peter's Principle full head-on. Murphy's law and the Chicago bunch rule the roost. The plan is there and even if there wasn't an POTUS the agenda would go on as it is etched in steel and just like the vacations he takes with his family, beyond the budget he doesn't even make. Those things still just happen, like it or not.

Austerity doesn't appear to be part of his lifestyle as he makes statements all around the world. President Clinton and his wife definitely sent the message and set the image for this President. Al Gore and Joe Biden are along for the ride.

The president's agenda carries on, and it should. That's what we elected him to do. We've turned recent sideshows into hyper partisan, government stopping donnybrooks, wherein somehow the president is given credit for a finger in every pot. Lincoln knew and prophetically spoke of how no foreign nation would topple the US, but added that we could easily do so ourselves. Another great philosopher, Pogo, pointed out that the enemy is 'us'. Our ability to share ideas and have a civil discourse is rapidly eroding into childish, obstinate grandstanding from both sides. We're destroying our own government. Democracy will not die to the sound of thunderous applause, but rather to the sound of partisan obstructionism where there should be and once was compromise and consensus.

So what Obama here is saying that he will not let his cover-ups and scandals get in the way of him fundamentally changing this great country (translation for changing the constitution). What's even more sad than him having these desires is the fact that millions are willing to back him up in his endeavors.

When news came out that he won the election, while the crowds cheered I thought of the quote in Star Wars: "So this is how liberty dies -- with thunderous applause".
