When is this going to stop? This back-stabbing, mud slinging and immature behavior of organizations who think they have the right over anyone else. Our wonderful USA is so divided because of hate, malice and lack of Patriotism. The devil is certainly in control. What happened to being happy for someone's success? I never could have imagined our wonderful United States of America being entangled in such berating, mean and hateful behavior between citizens. Those in high positions in our government are supposed to be the example of what is true and good. But instead those select few that do care are being overpowered by those who do not. I for one, wish those in charge would "grow up" and start taking seriously their words and actions and begin by being Honest and True to our Red, White and Blue.

The President releasing the IRS commissioner gave the same words as he has for any other problem he has had all through his ministry of President of the United States of America. All those who are involved is going to surface like cream, some now and some who are dragging this administration down, in a later time. The President is going through the Bill Clinton type of pressure. They just need to keep clean and not have the appearance they can get away with indiscriminate actions affecting millions of people. The IRS actions are against the law and how they applied them arbitrary and capricious does not allow the system to correct them. They don't have a tracking system as FedEx and UPS have to know who violated the law. There are undefined conservatives that are out there, not just ones with their names in it.

All people that read the DN could fall into that category. Anyone who has read John Birch Society or Constitution could be considered in that category. They could tap into your and find out what books you ordered and not even read to consider one as conservative.

And all this corruption from the people who will be enforcing Obamacare!
Can we just get the entire Administration out of the White House.
Obama is either a foolish puppet, or he is a lying cheating traitor.
Either way he needs to go!!!

"lack of sensitivity"? Oh my, what a gross understatement of such aggressive, illegal, and egregious behavior!

Doesn't matter why they applied. If they were not eligible, then just turn them down.

However--when the IRS is asking for donor lists (which is illegal), what books were read, copies of webpages, whether they have any intention of running for office now or in the future, etc, then they have crossed the line into Orwellian territory.

And just how do you know that some of the groups applying were not educational?

I've been audited. These folks weren't even audited!! Their application was essentially subject to review to see if they were eligible for tax exempt status.

Was it based on the difficulty of determining if the majority of these particular groups' activities were to 1) promote social welfare, or 2) engage in political activity?
The particular section of law they are applying under requires that the groups are for "promoting social welfare," yet all Tea Party groups were clearly engaged in loud, blatant and very public political activities.
Simply sending a memo that says, "Hey folks, it looks like those 'tea party' groups are mostly political. Be sure to check social welfare activity is valid," seems perfectly acceptable to me.

The whole government needs to take sensitivity training and figure out that they are to be working for our citizens and not trying to subvert anything of good report or praiseworthy. They have too many in this administration from Chicago who have a street mentality and not of a historical perspective in that President Lincoln came out of the Chicago convention to be a winner for our country. He was the cement that held our country together.

Think about the IRS trying to manage our healthcare and privacy and be the beloved servants of our country is hard to imagine in 7 months. We are in for a real surprise. These guys violated the laws 2 years ago when they should have been ginning up the healthcare programs that they will be responsible for. We just need to drop back and punt and keep that part of the process away from corrupt people that are to be protecting our national resource, taxes.

They are about as trustworthy as the Benghazi people. When you think of the Department of the Treasury and the IRS, you think of a budget approved and in the system. For 5 years we have no budget.

    * Rule without representation of the people, or having been voted in.
    * Obama has no clue to what the IRS is doing?
    * Obama has no clue of Benghazi, or guns to Mexican cartels.

The DOJ needs to be investigated for spying illegally on the Associated Press. They can't be trusted investigating the IRS.

The IRS has proven that it is too big, too powerful, and too easily twisted to perform illegal and immoral acts as a partisan political goon squad. It is corrupt to the core, at least in the appointed leadership levels, and in many small pockets of easily manipulated bureaucrats. Yes, many IRS workers are simply doing their jobs and collecting what is due so we can run the government, but they mask the rot that exists.

Allowing this huge bureaucracy with unlimited power, unlimited resources, and the tyrannical ability to destroy any individual or business to continue to operate is inconsistent with limited or honest government.

Lots of people need to be fired, and JAILED! Then the tax code needs to be simplified so as to eliminate the IRS. Finally, Obamacare with 12,000 new IRS agents to be the :enforcers" must be halted immediately, and repealed entirely.

the IRS, just like the state department after Benghazi, continues to change its story. Remember's Dukakis's famous Greek quote about how a fish rots from the head down?

I'm probably not well informed, but it seems to me the tea party and other conservative groups, while they may have laudable objectives, are not philanthropic, educational, or religious. Why would they have applied for tax exempt status?

This is like the fox guarding the henhouse. The no budget President has lost control of his minions at top levels. It makes you wonder what John Kerry the long boat guy will be doing out there on the sidelines of diplomacy. Hopefully, he won't throw his medals over the fence into North Korean territory so they can use that like Jane Fonda's propaganda.

The secretary of Defense is beyond is Peter's principle and Murphy's law will grab him. Since we have the Obama Chiefs of Staffs of all military services, hopefully, they will be able to hold the line.

What freedoms will we give up over the night? It is almost becoming Germany of the 1930s. However it is safer now as people in 99 percent of the world are at peace while we sleep. Britain used to have their territory with the sun never setting.

Why does the IRS need to be "sensitive"? Any and all requests for tax-exempt status should be highly scrutinized. Aren't there enough people not paying taxes these days?

Conservatives won't receive proper health care.

Was it "insensitive" before the last election to send confidential tax data including donors to conservative groups (illegally collected by the IRS) to Propublica, a liberal media group that is funded by George Soros and other left wing billionaires? If so, it is probably also insensitive to rob banks.
