Wow...I guess that is one way to absolve the performance, or should I say failure of the States Educational System......? the last 50 years educational spending has doubled and there are more administrators now in this state, then there are teachers and the scores are worse? Nuke the Board of Education and start over by hiring good teachers pay them more and get rid of the bureaucrats!

If readers of this cannot see that it is simply another Democrat ploy to gain more votes at the polls, then they're simply blind. We already have public schools churning out high school grads who cannot read and who cannot write. So, what, starting at age 3 with these kids will make the difference? People are also totally blind if they cannot see that it is the poor (including poor single moms) and the minorities who are targeted with offers of this sort of "help". Other people are busy doing what they SHOULD be doing; taking care of their own 3-year-olds. Cradle to grave care. That's where we're heading, folks.

When a member of the current administration's cabinet considers $75,000,000,000 "not much more than a rounding error in the federal budget", it becomes understandable why our country is in such a financial mess... and why the federal deficit is out of control.

Pre-school is just that. It's something designed for before actually schooling takes place. It was set up for 4 year old kids and this article states that the federal government wants to add 3 year olds. At that age, we're essentially talking about just baby-sitting. Our current federal government basically wants more subsidized baby-sitting for parents. At 3 and 4 years of age, that's all it could be.

Parents know their children best, so are best suited for preparing their own kids for actual schooling... kindergarten and beyond. The fact that the government seems so obsessed with taking the place of parental responsibility is a bit disconcerting.

We truly need less government interference in our lives, not more. We need less socialism in our society, not more. Let parents take responsibility for their 3 and 4 year old infants without more government involvement and cost.

Re: ""The state of preschool was a state of emergency . . . ."

Of course. And the Obama regime never lets a good crisis go to waste.

They've now apparently defined the next deranged liberal toilet, down which we'll flush untold billions, to no particular effect, but resulting in unattainable, unsustainable federal mandates, and ultimately, a federal takeover and loss of local control.

Liberals are nothing, if not predictable.
