    Wally West,

typical dem tactic - say the other side said something they did not.

Please tell me where mountanman said we should live in an uber-religious dystopia where megacorporations run amuck sans oversight/regulation.

    He did not.

    nice obfuscation. typical.

    @Wally West

Because a liberal anti-religion dystopia is better?

Funny how the extreme left connects religion and conservatism.

Conservative ran the country for the first hundred and fifty years,

What, exactly was so bad about it?

And what is so good about now?

We've enacted every law the left has wanted against corporation and you are still unhappy.

I would say corporations are not to blame, you need to look at yourself and the culture.

And by the way in the history of the world no corporation has ever ruled a nation. There is no profit in it.

But just like everyone and the left, they are interested in laws that are beneficial to them.

They are no different than the left.

I would concern4end with how the extreme left has ruled nations.

How will more laws make this a better place? It just makes us a more dependent and subjugated people.

More laws does not change the heart and soul of the people.

    Morals and principles does.

I believe the advent of the All-Volunteer force since the early 1970s has spawned more liberals into the officer corps through the Academies than most would like to believe. The military has lowered standards of physical, mental and leadership capabilities to allow all individuals the opportunity to have an education and not just be a service for our country.

There are a lot of good people that went into the military after the 9/11 devastating act that went on to serve in Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times over their period of service.

Dedication from veterans wanting to serve in the Congress has dropped significantly in the past several decades leaving very few in Congress that serve concurrently in the National Guard and Reserve forces. This has left a gap with the Senators and Representatives that know what it is like on military men and women and their highly dedicated families including children of all ages.

It was unfortunate that President Bush II didn't live up to his commitment to the United States Air Force to the end of his contract. That showed a character flaw. He was probably not a good pilot, either.

Then, we can abolish TSA, DHS, & get rid of the Patriot Act?

bottom line: conservatives should stop whining about how much better off we'd all be in an uber-religious dystopia where megacorporations run amuck sans oversight/regulation.

Imagine the debate, compromises and progress that could have been made over the past 4 years if the Senate had submitted budgets previously.

Reid should be replaced due to his poor management and fulfillment of Senate duties over the past four years. It is obvious that the Senate Democrats refusal to put forward budgets was a tactical, political decision to not conduct votes that could compromise their majority status during elections. Their performance did not serve the country, only themselves.

I am glad that the Senate has decided to start working for their income this year.

I hope Nevadans will finally wake up and send a Senator that will actually serve their state and our country.

@ Fred44. Conservatives dominate military service, not liberals. Liberals in the military are scarce to non-existent. As for the police, I defend myself because cops can't!
I do choose what the government does for me and that is why I work for a living, pay massive taxes and do not demand entitlements that other people pay for. Never took a dime from the government but I sure pay in a lot!

It continues to amaze me how the far right both in Washington and those on this board can continue to oversimplify very complex problems. Is the Washington budget like your family budget? Yes but not exactly and therefore can't be run the exact same way. Do those not on the far right believe government has a place and purpose in our lives? Because we say yes, that does not mean we think think the government should care for us cradle to grave, no it means that government has a vital function.

And by the way Mountanman conservatives are hypocrites when they say they don't want the government to take care of them. Who fights their wars, who provides their police protection, their fire protections, their streets, etc etc. What you should say is "I am republican I think I am smarter than everyone else so I get to choose what government does for me and you"

@ Old man. Here is what you will never understand; Conservatives do not need or want the government to take care of us, we take care of ourselves. Liberals think other people should take care of them. That's the difference

But listen to all the screaming -- from conservatives -- when any of them are asked to forgo any services that may benefit them.

Hey liberals! Did you see that your hero Joe Biden just stuck taxpayers for $585,000 and change for one night in a Paris hotel? An you think we should pay more taxes?

Democrats think your money belongs to them that they have some kind of right to take what other people work to receive. So why earn it, why invest, why create, why even work? It does you no good to work as long as Democrats are in control!

Democrat's have no idea what a budget is. A budget is NOT a road map for more borrowing, spending and worst of all more taxes. Will liberals ever change? Can you imagine the father in the home showing his wife the new family budget complete with 5 more credit cards ready to max out? Is that a budget or a way to buy more stuff? Is there a difference ? Not to a liberal. Budgets 'normally' imply cutting back - balancing check books - living within your means or least a plan of how to do that ...but again we are talking about a non-socialist budget here. Socialist's live on a different planet..where money grows on trees. Can you imagine a socialist run corporation? A blueprint for bankruptcy.
